Flexible. But it's a little firmer, and it's very long-lasting. According to my four-year-old, it is comfortable.

Too narrow for a large size 13 1/2

I'll have to return the sneakers once more. The binding across the top of the toes, just below the shoe lace area, is so tight that I couldn't put my feet in the sneakers for more than three minutes without cutting off circulation. Why do these shoe companies make such ugly sneakers? These sneakers are ideal for children who have wide, bony feet but not a fatty top.

My children's fat little feet can only be accommodated by NB shoes. They are on the pricey side, but the quality is well worth it.

The Velcro is particularly useful for a toddler. If your child, like ours, has been told that they need supportive shoes, I suggest these.

Excellent shoes, but not for a 6 year old who is active

These shoes were extremely comfortable and assisted in correcting my son's pronated feet. He described them as "roomy and comfortable," and he said he enjoyed wearing them. However, after about a month, the stitching on the top front of the shoe began to rip, and after three months, the entire shoe had basically disintegrated; this is likely due to the amount of time my son spends running, climbing, and crawling on the ground with the tops of his sneakers dragging along the ground, but I was disappointed at this price point.
