The child I am talking about is a size one There are two children under 2 and nine under 9. They fit nicely, but could not be sized up despite being a large. I returned them for an XL instead because I am a dancer myself, and I have a daughter that wears these to competitions, as well as in between classes, with her shoes inside. There was not enough room for that in the large. If you would like me to suggest a size, I would suggest a large or extra large.
Over hip hop sneakers, these would not look good. I think a smaller shoe like a ballet or jazz shoe would be a better choice than a hip hop sneaker.

I have a five year old daughter who fits just into a size 9, and she can definitely fit into a medium.
