It should have been the large or XL which he would have been more comfortable wearing. He wears a 32 and I got him the medium thinking the size was accurate. There is a tie at the waist, so it is always possible to make the waist fit perfectly. I would advise to get a size larger than what the chart specifies, just to be safe.

It's thinner than a shirt, so I would say no.

These pants are great for costumes. I thought it would be more versatile, but it is more slim fit than I had I ordered an xl for a men's size 38 waistband. The waistband is elastic, but the legs are a little more flowy than I expected. You may be able to get away with them if you're skinny, but if you're beefier, then you'll probably need to look elsewhere. In summary, it's a good purchase.
Upon delivery, everything was in order. The product I ordered was The pirate costume fit perfectly on the large figure. The pants were comfortable enough for me since I have a 38-inch waist. I think it is well-suited to anyone who has a waist size similar to mine.
I liked the fact that they were not hot and they were comfortable. I wore them during the whole Renaissance festival, and they kept me very cool, even when I was outdoors.
My cosplay outfit fits quite well and feels great, but it makes me look poor at the same time, lol.
I like the pants pictured, but the pants I received are completely different from those pictured. In addition, the waist did not have a drawstring, the bottoms of the legs were not tied either with any type of tie (just elastic openings), and the material was not what was described or pictured. The cotton I wanted in the seller's description was not to be found in this fabric, as it was a poor poly blend. While these would still work for a costume of sorts, the final product would likely turn out to be much different, blander, and of lesser quality overall. Due to their quality and price, I returned the pair because I did not think they deserved the $30 price point.
I used this for an aladdin costume, since it is kind of see through. Can be worn over white instead.
He loves it. It's just what he wanted. I wear a size Large (normally wear a 36 waist) and it ended just below the knees. The package arrived much earlier than expected.
