I went up two sizes based on the recommendation. I purchased the 6/7 because my daughter wears a 4/5. It was just above the knee when it was finished. If you require more length, I recommend purchasing three sizes larger. I hope this information is useful.
The tie is made of the same fabric as the cape and is sewn on. I placed an order for an eight-pack of cigarettes. It's a 9-year-old size, with a length of 29 inches from neck to hem. If you want it to be long, I'd recommend ordering a size larger than the child's age.
My daughter removes hers after a while because it is too hot for her. So long as you only need a light jacket, I believe this will suffice.

My daughter is four years old. The child is 5 years old and stands at a height of 101 centimeters. I purchased the largest size (10 years old), which is the perfect length to cover her heels. Satin on the inside, velvet on the outside- Both sides have a gleaming finish, which I like. ish. Before giving it to her, I hand washed it and tumble dried it on the gentle setting. She stated that she was too hot after playing inside for a while. I'll let her practice unhooking it so she'll be able to remove it when she needs to. The cloak is very soft and hangs nicely as shown in the picture. It has a slightly heavier weight to it, which helps it hang nicely, but the satin liner and fuzzy outer layer are the only two layers. Before giving this to a child, I would suggest using a needle and thread to reinforce the hook and eye clasp. I failed to do so, and on day two, we lost one side of the clasp.

It's the perfect size for her; anything smaller would look more like a shawl than a cloak. Others have also suggested that the clasp be reinforced. I agree with you. The thread is frayed (it fell out within the first hour of wearing), but don't let that stop you from wearing it. All you have to do now is tighten it up with some thread and you're ready to go! I'd suggest it for a costume or if your daughter, like mine, enjoys dressing up as a princess all the time.
