Thickness is higher than expected

This was purchased as part of my 9-year-old's Halloween costume. It fits perfectly and is of good quality. I expected it to be a thicker material than it is. Which is ideal because trick-or-treating in New York is extremely cold. As a result, this is going to be fantastic.
