For some reason, I expected this to be a chunky knit sweater, like a home knit. Not at all. Made from a machine, it's a bit thinner, but not too thin, so I'll be buying another if it holds up well to constant washing. During the summer months, it looks good with a white button-up shirt or polo. In California, during gloomy mornings, where it's chilly, but heats up by recess, I got this for our son. You can block stains by layering over the white shirts at least. It is mandatory for our school to wear uniforms.
The vest is nice, however the instructions for washing are not clear to me. When it washed for the first time, it pilled. A gentle cycle is supposed to be used to wash the inside out. It may not be the best choice for a school uniform that gets a lot of.
