D My son is going to LOVE this hat! The hood of his coat gets in the way of his backpack, so I take it off! I find it super frustrating when his beanies slide up his back all the time! Then this one is not for you! He will stay warm with that on his head, neck, and face! It is possible to adjust the strap so that it does not appear as open as it does now. Playing with these is one of the things we got her. This would be a great winter jacket because it is very thick. She sweats in it all the time since we live in Florida. The item was bought for the baby who is 20months old. As of now, he wears 24 months/ 2T clothes and is pretty average size. Initially, I was worried that it would be too big, but it is actually a perfect size! Please note that it appears to be a little loose in the picture, but I deliberately do not tighten it, since it does not bother my son at all.
