My 7 month old granddaughter was able to fit in the 12 month size. It is very unlikely that you will need to go up a size. I would suggest the 24month size.
The answer is yes.
It does not seem as though these are intended to wear with pants. My mind goes to bloomers when I see them. The baby loves it and it fits so nicely on him.

What a cute design! All of them are cotton, which is really nice. The rompers from Carter's Simple Joys are very nice, however our baby has very chunky legs and the rompers are too small for her. The snaps are very tight and if you don't align the seams with the snaps, the fabric will stay twisted if you understand what I mean. It's a super cute design, and my baby seems to like it.

There is a problem with the snaps that others have mentioned in their reviews they are very tight and to get a right angle you have to twist and turn them after they have been snapped on. In our family, we just keep the snaps on and wear the romper over our daughter's head like a shirt, so it's not a big deal. But they could still stand improving. We also dislike the way the bands around the thighs leave red marks on our girl's thighs because they seem constricting. Our 20 mo child wears a size 24M and is very comfortable and has no issues anywhere else, except for Since these marks are inevitable, we've resorted to only using the middle snap on the bottom of the wardrobe. In addition, I have purchased this style in a variety of colors in every size newborn to 24 months. The toddler clothing is one of my favorites, and I will miss it when she outgrows it. It doesn't seem like these are available for toddlers.

In preparation for her next growth spurt, I have been buying the next size up since she went up a size recently. I was surprised to find that after washing these, the size is the same as the one my daughter is currently wearing (currently size 9 months, purchase was The labels on a few of these seem to be misprinted or not. This is not a typical issue for this brand, so I presume that it was just an accident. Besides that she's able to wear them now, so there's no need to return them, but she doesn't need anything else in her current size. However, I think they're very cute, aside from the sizing issue.
I recommend it. A 6m size fits me well since I weigh 10 lb 20 oz. There's still room to grow in this 5 month old baby girl.
