The outer surface of this tutu features a multifold fabric covered in sequins (a moon and stars). The top layer is colored (it has 3 solid tulle layers beneath it). There is gold in the waistband. Play clothes with this quality are of decent quality, but I was shocked by the size. This is their sixth year. We need to buy a size 6 for our 3 t There was a lot of tension. It should not be washed as the bottom layer will fray if you do. It was intended that I would wash it by hand, but I forgot and accidentally put it in the washer. I used scissors to cut the fraying on the bottom of the top layers (about 1/4" to 1/2" inch and you can't even tell because it's so thin. The stars and moons didn't fall off. My clothes were dried by hanging them on the line. I bought this for my 1 year old, 23 lb baby, and it fit The event was a big hit. There is a high degree of fluff in this blanket.
