It was a pleasure to give these shoes to my son. The reason I chose Velcro over others was because, even though he knows how to tie his shoes, he prefers to slip them on and off, and I would much rather care for a normal piece of shoe hardware than a broken one. I discovered this wasn't a problem with the heel! It is a great pair of Adidas shoes, but as others have pointed out, the item description is wrong. I ordered the royal blue color with laces, and received a velcro closure instead. However, it is otherwise a fantastic shoe, and the velcro closes all the way around. The velcro is too young for my son (almost 10) to use. He disagrees so we are keeping the pants. In the future, I will pick a different style.
