There is no way you can shave with this razor. While the brush mug and alum stone are excellent, it would have been more convenient if the strip were 3 inches long For your strop and razor, you should check elsewhere. If you want to begin straight razor shaving, head over to Chevy to see if they have a brush and mug set. Yes, a lot of people still use 2" strops as well, but 3" strops have become more and more common. Strops that are 5 inches long are nice, but with a blade that's 3 inches long, it makes no sense. (Editor's note) They did send me a 3" strop after this review. My star rating will be raised accordingly.

However, the other items are of high quality. Great kit. I love everything about it. I think the razor needs some work even with a good stroping but with a little effort I think it will be fine. I have used it a few times and it works fine but it is not giving me the close shave I am used to from straight razors. I'll keep working on it until I get it a bit sharper. Even though the scales feel a bit cheap and the hinges loosen every time you open and close the blade, this is a great razor for beginners thanks to the complete kit included for a good price. You can learn to strop without ruining an expensive razor with it. In addition to the kit itself, all of the other items are excellent. There are several items in the kit that especially pleased me, such as soap, shaving mug, and brush. They are all of good quality and make one feel prepared in an enjoyable way.

The kit is great. There is nothing of lesser quality anywhere. In the sheath, I found the blade to be in pristine condition. (Raised my eyebrows but was not shave ready by my standards. It's sharpened by stropping for five minutes on a whetstone and then five minutes on a whetstone). I am very pleased with the brush and the mug. The scent of the soap (cedar and pine) is nice, but I do not like the It was easy to remove some old spice soap by shaving it off. As well as the aluminum block, it looks lovely. . That's all I have to say. The tiny machine is all that's left of it. I believe that the strop should have a width as wide as the blade, but that's minor since I am a leather worker and will make one of my I shaved for the first time tonight and it was smooth as a baby's bottom. This is a great kit at a good price, which will last for a long time.

A sharp blade came with the razor, but was not ready for shaving. As I am not sure it is the metal that is weakening, sometimes my razor stops working well about halfway through my shave. I could try stropping then restarting, but that would be very time consuming. Despite the price for this knife, the pins that hold the two halves of the handle together are very sharp and could have been better constructed for the price. It would have been nice to have a finger hole for comfort or smooth edges on the blade. The hard angles of the metal on the blade are causing callouses to form on my finger when I stroke it. The shave kit is great! I'm very happy with it! This kit reduces the cost of a straight razor shaving experience by nearly half. I am new to shaving with a straight razor, and it was beginning to seem expensive. There was one item that was broken in my package when I received it I believe it was broken by my mailman jamming the package in my mailbox. As soon as I received the message from the seller, I told him I would send a picture of the damage to request a replacement. I have stropised the razor and it gives me nicks and cuts every time I shave. The shaving soap is not good and will evaporate in about one minute on my face even after lathering it up. If you want to do yourself a favor, DON'T buy this for yourself or The Parker Shavette is a good choice for a beginner when he is looking for gear of this sort.

This brush is well made, but it stinks like a devil and I haven't been able to get rid of it. There is something wrong with it. If you leave it flat it will get you cut up very quickly, because it is such a poor substitute for today's types of cream. I received the first one with a hairline crack above the logo on the left, will not hold an edge, and the blade fell into my hands. The friendly lady at customer service was fast with a replacement for me. I've edited it The new blade had broken the spot where the old one had been and I hadn't even gotten it out of the sheath yet. The customer service line has gone off. I have reached out to them again. The seller emailed me and told me to return both items A refund is not what I want.
