It's not supposed to be allowed, but it can be. That's not the case. Using a sponge, I exfoliate my face and wash away any EXCESS makeup after washing my face with a cleanser, rinsing, then wiping. Considering that this is a delicate, natural sponge, I don't think it should be initially used to scrub all of your makeup off. isn't an issue for me, since I find with any exfoliating product, I'm supposed to wash my face more than once to remove makeup (since I only wear mascara and powder foundation.) A little sponge like this is a great tool for your skin. It has to be well dried. I am in the business of doing this. In the end, I squeeze the sponge three times and then hang it up to dry to ensure that every last bit is out of the sponge. You will not be able to dry your sponge (and it will become hard like a rock) if you do not follow the instructions and it will begin to deteriorate more quickly. Prior to the purchase of this sponge, I owned a $1 exfoliation sponge that works about three times before it falls apart and was of greater Despite advertisements that describe it as "soft", the sponge is actually very squishy and reminds me of the kind of growing dinosaur sponge that you give young children. It opened up with some soaking, but several hours later it was hard as a rock and dry, which I did not expect (I had expected it would stay open like a normal sponge would), so when leaving it out of the water I had to re-open it. My face had no exfoliation when I went to use it, but there was lots of foam. Rather than rubbing in the soap, it rubbed it in more. My hands were dirty from washing my face for about five minutes before I gave up, rinsed off, and went to rinse my face with water. Although the cotton pad didn't get perfectly clean, there was still a small amount of dirt on it after using toner. As I expected, I was expecting a sponge that would give the effect of exfoliation, but none of these were available.
