I was able to get what I needed from these brushes. As far as bristles are concerned, they are a bit stiffer than expected although the long handled brush also has a softer side. I only use the long handled brush on my back about once a week, since they are pretty rough but they are excellent for I feel as though I have super soft skin after using it. My method is to squeeze a small amount of body wash on the bristles, lather them up with my fingers, then wash them. It might be a good idea to choose something a little softer if you have sensitive skin.

I have never found a back brush I like more than this. Firm bristles that do not shift are my favorite. The handle is easy to grip because I've had multiple hand surgeries, and the handle is long enough to reach all the way to my My preferred method is to soap up both sides of the brush and to wash my back with the lighter colored side, then flip it over, and use the heavier colored firm side to exfoliate.
