In my opinion, sunscreens lose their effectiveness and UV protection when they have reached their expiration date. I am not a scientist, but I think this is true. Almost all sunscreen ingredients expire within a few years. If you want to avoid sun burns and other potential irritations, I recommend staying away from expired sunscreen.

There is an advertisement for this sunscreen that claims it is reef-safe. It cost more than $50 as I wanted to make sure I wasn't damaging the coral I was supposed to see while I was diving. There is still octisalate and avobenzone inside the sunscreen, which studies have shown be very harmful to corals. In light of the false advertising, I am extremely disappointed. I read the label and found out immediately that that brand wasn't reef safe, so I immediately went over to my friend to confirm. If they claim it isn't reef safe, then they shouldn't market it as such.
It wouldn't be effective if this was a face sunscreen since sunscreen needs to cover your entire face and even your eyes for it to be effective. It's reef safe so I thought it would work great, but sadly, I'll be going back to my previous sunscreen. A beauty product that protects the skin.
