It was written on the back of the bottle that this item contained formaldehyde. There was a terrible smell in the room. It is interesting that when I found the same item at a drug store, it did not contain formaldehyde. Because formaldehyde is toxic and will have a lot of side effects on my health, I threw the bottle away.
As well as Formaldehyde, Methylene glycol also goes by the name of Tetrahydrofuran. An ATSDR report notes that formaldehyde is a respiratory irritant that can cause chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing, and nose and throat irritation. Kids are also at risk of asthma and allergies when exposed to it, as it can also cause cancer.
My nails were weak and split easily until I started using this product years ago.
