That's correct. The colors are separated by 12 squares in each of the small boxes.

What is the method for adhering them to the surface?

They are not self-sticking. Before curing, you must place them in acrylic or over wet gel polish. You could also use super glue, but super glue will most likely come off faster.

These are the cutest little butterflies I've ever seen

There are many different colors to choose from. Since the pandemic, I've been doing my nails at home, and this is the perfect finishing touch. It will still look cute if you add one or more. They're great, and I'll buy more when I'm done with them, which will take a long time because each little container holds so many. Oh, and it includes the small containers, which is an added bonus.

Butterflies are stunning

I spent hours searching Amazon for the perfect butterflies, and if you're anything like me, your nails and nail designs are extremely important to you. My favorite set was when I got my nails done and had a butterfly sequin on them like these. I can confidently state that these are the EXACT ones used by the nail artist. They're stunning and gleam like a diamond. The colors are also extremely vivid and beautiful. I assure you that purchasing these will not disappoint you. There were also one or two butterflies that had escaped from their proper container. They didn't arrive strewn about and disorganized. They were presented in a beautiful manner, in the appropriate container and color.

It had turned into a shambles

When I opened the package, there was a bag inside the bag that contained all of the contents, and all of the butterflies fell out, with the majority of the butterflies being mixed in with other colors. It took me a long time to put them back where they belonged. Some of the boxes don't have many butterflies, while others have a large number.
