With the tail included, you can tuck it between the seat back and back rest in order to protect the seat from slipping. As for leather seats, they stay in place under normal stopping conditions, but in a hard brake situation, they fall on the ground. I didn't include the pockets that extend out of the large center section that measures 7 1/2 inches by 12 inches. Water resistant material feels as though there's a layer of cardboard beneath it. It has a rigid, but not stiff, feel. The cardboard makes it strong enough to stand, but you need to be careful not to collapse or push the sides out. It is easy for the cardboard beneath to bend or crease (as cardboard tends to do), and you can permanently alter the shape of your storage container. A portion of the cardboard inside my purse (which is rather stuffed) bent when I accidentally placed it on top of my car storage. I guess the cardboard inside is now causing it to lean a bit. My use of mine is not hindered by this nor does it lessen my appreciation for it. My daughter's car seat sits next to my passenger seat. You have a great idea there. The following measurements really don't look like they will fit, but the measurements are as follows This carrier measures 14 1/2 inches long by 8 inches wide, and its rear is higher than its front, with the back height of 7 inches higher than its front height of 5 inches.
