I measured 8 inches wide with a tape measure, but I no longer have the packaging to see if it says so.
Selected User Reviews For Diono Head Support, for Use in Car Seats, Infant Carriers, and Strollers, Soft Quilted Plush-Filled Padding, Grey/Orange
Given the mixed reviews, I decided to take a chance on it. This did not work for us, and the following are the reasons why: The seat belt slits are extremely high, putting the headrest in close proximity to the straps. Shoulder straps should be at or just below the shoulders of the baby for proper car seat fit. When I put this head support in and placed my baby in the seat, the pillow was pressing down hard on the top of his head, and he couldn't bring his head back because the top of the pillow support was too low. I attempted to raise the head support by raising the seat belt straps, but this caused the shoulder straps to become too high, making the car seat unsafe to use, so I was unable to do so. We'll almost certainly run into the same issue once he's big enough to move the straps up - There was insufficient room for his head. My child has a large head, but he is far from alone. If your car seat fits properly with the shoulder straps at or below the shoulder and your baby has a larger head, you may run into the same issue. He was about a month old at the time of purchase, weighing 9 pounds and measuring 21 inches in length. It might have worked better when he was fresh out of the hospital, but not now.
I really like this item, but it's designed for a baby who is between the ages of 0 and 3. Only for a period of 6 months. If you're looking for something for a child aged 6 or older, this is not the product for you. The material is extremely gentle.
did not aid in the straightening of the baby's head My child appeared to be in a lot of discomfort.
Because no one else had posted any, I've included them here.
This makes my baby sweat a lot, but that's to be expected given the material. Aside from that, it accomplishes its objectives. It doesn't move around. ensures that the head is properly supported.
The product is only a temporary fix; I still needed to add more cushion around it to support my baby's head.
To use it with my son, I had to leave it unbuttoned. It's a nice, soft head support, but it's far too small.
