Before you can leave our hospital, you must see a car seat specialist, and the specialist did not approve this product. You can have something that goes on top of the car seat, but nothing inside. I wish I had known that before I bought the product.
Even with the removable back, this does not appear to be a safe product to use. I really wanted to like it because it was so adorable and appeared to be ideal for keeping baby warm. This is plush, the material is soft, and it looks great, but it added too much bulk and necessitated loosening the straps on my baby's car seat, which, in my opinion, makes it unsafe in the event of an accident. It was too thick, and because of the extra bulk, my baby seemed squished when strapped in. It was extremely hot, which was great, but it also made him extremely sweaty. I also decided not to use the flap over my baby's face due to concerns about lack of airflow, so his face was left exposed to the elements, which is why I bought it in the first place. Because I didn't want anything to get in the way of the straps, I decided to return it and replace it with one of the shower cap style seat covers.
I couldn't find a sleeping bag that would fit the uppa baby vista bassinet. They all appeared to be for toddler seats, and I needed something for my baby to lay down in while we were out walking in the winter. If I didn't have to, I didn't want to spend $200 on the Uppa Baby brand. The back flap can be removed, but it does not appear to bother the baby. He was in it the day before yesterday and fell fast asleep. The fact that the back is flat is also something I appreciate. Hooded items are too big right now, and with the flat back, I don't have to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't bury his face in a hood. I feel safe snuggling him in this sleeping bag because it is super soft and cozy.
br>br> Because our older son has soccer practices and games outside in the cold and will continue to do so for a few more months, we knew we needed to get something to keep our one-month-old warm. We also have a lot of wind, which adds to the chill. This is very effective! br>br> I don't have to lug blankets around or dress him in bulky outerwear. It was very simple to set up, and we love that we don't have to worry about our little one while our other little man is having fun playing soccer. br>br> The only caution is to keep an eye on the baby because they can become overheated and sweaty. With a hat and socks, a thin bodysuit or onsie works perfectly. Do not overdress the baby! It unzips easily on one side, allowing you to quickly let cool air in if needed. br>br>While in this warm environment, our baby also had a diaper leak. So we had to wash it, and it was very simple to take it out, throw it in the washer, and put it back together. We've only used it in the carseat so far, but we're looking forward to using it in the stroller once he's a little older.
It's now simple to secure him and keep him warm. In 35 degrees, we can walk for up to an hour with just this covering his pant-legs. Legs that are covered and feet that are booted We add a snowsuit if the temperature drops below freezing. With the wind, the front part flaps onto his face, but we can solve the problem by folding it over and tucking it in. It can also withstand a sprinkling of water. We walked for 25 minutes in the rain without getting wet on the inside, so we're very pleased with our purchase. One point to keep in mind: We got the infant size because it said it could last up to a year. It wasn't big enough. You'll need this size if your baby is in a stroller without a car seat.
Huge in size. This was not at all what I had anticipated. In the car, it's quite bulky. That can't be good for the baby's comfort. The top also sags where the baby's head goes, making it impossible to zip all the way up. When the baby moves around in the seat, it bunches up. Because I live in western New York, I need it to keep the baby warm during the winter. It wasn't at all what I had anticipated. I intend to return. The fabric is nice, soft, and cozy, and the quality is excellent.
I like the materials, and it's simple to use and doesn't get in the way of our carseat's functions (including the Nuna's dream drape), but the length is a problem for us. Our baby was only three months old at the time, and this was already too small for him- Something to keep in mind if you have a longer baby or one who kicks a lot. For them, this will be ineffective.
This is something we use on a daily basis, not just in the car! We take it outside and she uses it as a sleeping bag to take naps. It's a big hit with our tink tink! We also get a lot of positive feedback on it.
