Questions & Answers

Would this work for babies whose stomachs are laying on their backs?

In fact, my son sleeps on his stomach a lot of the time, and it works well When she slept, I placed it more to one side that she tended not to favor. I found the only issue with belly sleeping was if the alarm goes off while they are lying on it, it isn't nearly as loud, so if you're a particularly good sleeper it may not wake you up.

Do you know if this product is reliable and comfortable for stomach Six months old and rolling onto her belly and face planting are these two signs that my baby is maturing. ?

Yes, I understand. The sensor has never left contact with the twins' skin, even when they slept on their backs. There's no need for you to worry that it will come off and you won't know, because the alarm will go off if it loses its connection with the stomach. My baby was on his side once while using one of these monitors, but it happened only once. I highly recommend them. Since using this product for over a month now for my preemie twins, I have never had any issues.

What kind of batteries does this come with?

There was a bad battery in ours. Despite the product description saying that a cr4 battery shouldn't be used, we purchased a duracel battery and it works fine.

This looks like the newest model, is that right? Initially, I thought the newest model was the Hero, while the Halo was the older model. ?

It may not be 100% accurate, but I'm pretty sure it's the So, I guess the new model is Halo "older." They renamed it with Hero, so I guess it's the old one.

A loss mama essential including tips on common matters (newborn use, false alarms, batteries)
5/5

There aren't enough words to express how much I appreciate this little device. The Snuza is a lifesaver after giving birth, particularly if you suffer from postpartum anxiety This is an excellent investment (and a false alarm is worth every penny! The day before my due date, our daughter died of stillbirth just 2 days before my son was born, and I was in intense fear that our son (born a year later) would also die suddenly and unimaginably. Having used Snuza the entire first year of our son's life, I don't think I would have slept through the first year of our second daughter, even though my PPA is much better this time. Knowing this baby is wearing it just takes SUCH a weight off. A lot of people are afraid of losing children again and this product is so highly recommended that I cannot express how beneficial it is. I know there are a lot of terrific monitors available nowadays (much more so now than when we first bought Snuza 4 years ago), but I would still prefer this to the rest of the field. I like the simplicity of it first It is a small, portable, self-contained device Unlike other monitors, there are no Cords, No wireless / electrical issues, No need for Recharging, etc. This monitor is completely mechanical (no bluetooth / wi-fi / electrical waves), and you can take it with you You can easily use it, it gives you the information you need, and it In addition, the price of the software is a fraction of some of the other options available. There are of course some downsides to any product, and this one is not an exception. In spite of that, we've proved to be successful at finding solutions for the vast majority of our issues. For those who might find these helpful, here are a few of the top issues and the solutions we The issue is A newborn diaper should not be used with this product, specifically when a newborn has an umbilical cord stump in the way.
Solution A Snuza pocket onesie is easy to make (see photo). It works like a charm and it's very simple to do Get comfortable and take a deep breath Onesie, grab a piece of extra material Then you can put it inside your baby's sleep sack and you'll be good to go. appears too bright in the baby's face, a few layers of painter's tape will help dim it so it won't be 1)

The issue The batteries are not working (dead on arrival, hard to find, and don't last very long)
Solution It's a good thing that we didn't do what we did twice (ended up with a dead Snuza in the first week of our child's life), so don't make the same mistake. It is a good idea to test your Snuza about a week before your due date. If your baby monitor seems perfect, order backup batteries and pack them in your hospital bag now (with my son, our Snuza suddenly stopped working a few days before he was born, and we didn't have a spare Make sure your backup batteries work (in our case, Evidently they were all buried in storage during the preceding years and all magically died! In reality, we should test them even when they are brand new (sigh, we accidentally ordered the wrong replacement batteries). There are no batteries readily available (we were only able to get them from Amazon) and we are not interested in buying battery packs from Amazon We have not come up with a solution for that, but luckily we haven't had the same troubles other people are, so so far. The issue is Warnings that turn out to be false In fact, my husband finds it a lot more bothersome than I do I believe any number of false alarms is worth the alternative of not catching a true emergency, so my top recommendation is to just change your perspective (a lot harder than you think! The fact is that I am deprived). In light of that, depending on *why* you're getting false alarms, there are several options available. As an alternative, try the Snuza pocket onesie above if it doesn't stay on the diaper The Snuza may slip off an older baby who is rolling a lot or whose diaper gets too full overnight and loosens it (this happened to us when my son started sleeping through the night at around a year old). There is also a DIY strap/belt which goes on top of the diaper that I have seen on YouTube. One other tip here is to buy the Snuza Hero (not the cheaper version) because the vibration feature allows you to turn it off before the alarm sounds and wakes the whole house (although my kids seem to sleep through it After a while, I got really good at hearing the vibrating in my sleep and quickly reaching over to deactive it (right through the sleep sack) before checking on the You shouldn't try this if your baby sleeps in a different room, but if you're experiencing a lot of false alarms and are determined to find a solution, this might be worth a shot. The only drawbacks we have seen are those three, again all with at least somewhat of a mitigation My opinion is that the Snuza provides great solutions, and that the peace of mind you gain is well worth the price. I recommend it to every new parent and I will be using it with my kids as well.

A life saving device
5/5

It has been a long time since Snuza Mama used it. It is the smartest thing you could possibly buy for your new baby, and I'll tell you why. The first thing to remember is that no device can ever replace parental This device belongs to you, and you are in charge of how to care for your baby and where and how you use it. When the baby is not sleeping nearby, you will still need a baby monitor to hear the chirp if it is loud enough, since it has a limit to how loud it can be. Since I have used this Snuza for the past 3 years and both of my children, I know how to use it. Apparently my youngest baby was saved the night before thanks to it, but I'll tell you more Before that I had sung Snuza's praises for the previous three years. In the NICU, I took it to the hospital, and we started using it once he was released. I bought a Snuza when my middle child was born with respiratory issues. The problem is no chip error. Although there are false alarms, the cause is not a malfunction of the computer. Basically, it's a placement error and movement that results in Snuza falling off and causing an alarm to falsely fire. It is likely that those who are bothered by this are Clip it on the front of the diaper, which should be folded down a bit to create a nice thick space to clip it into place. You should make sure that it is placed right in front of and adjacent to the belly button area. It will fall off or cause a bruise on the hip if placed too far to the side. You should place it in the same location, only on the back, on the diaper, if you're using it for a belly sleeper. It is possible to place it over thin pajamas if your baby does not like the way it feels. A onesie and set of pants go on, and then an elastic band is clipped to the waist band. If the pants are loose, fold the waist band down once to tighten it. I understand, thanks. You now know how to place it correctly, and here's why it's so valuable to me, and how it could be useful to you. My baby was alerted when he couldn't get oxygen to his lungs because the Snuza detected when he couldn't take big breaths. As long as he raised his belly high enough to fill his lungs with air, the Snuza would not count those breaths, so I'd be alerted in time to wake him up and get him taking deep breaths so he could resume normal breathing. Is it true that I lost tons of sleep because of the constant false alarms? The answer is yes. Did I lose one or two hours of sleep to make sure my fragile baby had a fair chance at life and overcame his health issues? YES, IT WAS WORTH IT. Those who think this device is only for weak babies may want to reconsider. I just wanted to share that my youngest baby is four and a half months old and is doing very well in health and weight despite her age. Despite his age and health, he is happy and in good shape. Although it still makes me feel a little more relaxed knowing the Snuza would wake me if something went wrong with him, we still use it on him. It was not a good night last night. As soon as the Snuza went off, he stopped We had not had any reason to worry about him as he hadn't been sick. He took a big breath of air and went back to sleep after I shook his belly. As it is, I'm grateful that the Snuza was on, and that I was sleeping nearby to hear it trying to rouse him while it was trying to do so. The machine could very well have saved his life last night when he and we were both sleeping through the night. Those of you who invented the device should be applauded for giving so many parents a sound piece of mind, and the capability to have postpartum anxiety reduced (which is arguably useful, if not priceless) by making this device.

My daughter has been blessed with one of the best gifts I've ever given her
5/5

My daughter has been blessed with one of the best gifts I've ever given her. During her sleep, she has stopped breathing a few times. The vibration was long enough for her to be awakened twice. Despite the alarm not going off, she caught her breath when she heard it. I was able to tell what her problem was because the light was blinking red when she awoke later. She stopped breathing again the other time, and the alarm sounded. The only way to make her breathe again was to gently shake her. My honest truth is that I cannot know if she would be here without the evidence we have Our little girl is 3 months old and we've been using it since the week she was born. We enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing that something is on her that will gently wake her or us if she is not.

Rather than buying a smartphone, you should buy an owlet
3/5

A few months after my son passed away, I purchased this product. The idea that his twin sister was all right was difficult for me to accept. A month after I purchased my Snuza, the battery seemed to have died. Although I replaced the unit, it was still not working. As I reported, the company didn't stand by their product. I should have written this 3 years ago when I found out about it, but I was too distraught to do so. Rather than a hospital pulse ox, we got a hospital pulse ox. In the case of this baby, we bought an owlet instead and have not had any problems Snuza is a place I would avoid. It is simply a matter of selling you an apartment. I don't think they care about how well.

The blister was caused by the infection
3/5

The Snuza has been working fine until this morning, when my 11 week old baby wriggled out of it. That gave him a blister the size of a grapefruit. In the evening around 9pm, I put my baby to sleep with a snuza and removed it in the morning at 6am When he awoke, it was 30am. It's still not right for a baby product to cause blisters, even if he was extra squirmy last night.

It's a false alarm galore
3/5

It would have been nice if I had the return box. We get so many false alarms per night that we gave up using it. There have been many false alarms for us. The peace of mind I have without it is greater. When I flew out of bed to check on her so many times, I think I ripped my C section stitch. Snuza, thanks for the kind words.
