A perfect way to prevent them from wandering too far is to keep them contained. It doesn't matter to me what stupid strangers say about it being like a leash on a dog. Besides being a SAVOR for her, this has been a great blessing for us too! There are two clips at the chest and belly of the giraffe, which are easy to use. It is soft and plush, and has very good color quality. It's been very helpful so far. Even though we have only had it for two weeks, it hasn't let her run away yet. If the leash that's included gets lost, you could just buy another leash and you'd be just fine. It had never occurred to me why some parents out there used these for their kids until I had my son I'm just curious, not judgmental in any way. Surely there must be some reason for this. Previously, I had purchased another harness for my husband and I to take with us on our upcoming travels, along with this harness. In addition to our 19 month old, my husband would also be traveling by himself with our 4 year old and 4 year old. Definitely one of the best purchases I have ever made! While my husband was completely opposed to me getting it, I did The only person I was traveling with was a two year old boy. We were flying to the west coast on our own. After navigating the packed airport without incident, I made it to my destination. Even though it is cute and has an okay price point, I didn't care for it when I used it. The front of the bag kept riding up and rubbing my toddler's neck, which may have posed a choking hazard. The back pocket on the bag is too small for my toddler's hands. My child would almost always fall if she put any tension on the tether part that held us together at all. In the case of a need for anything like this, I'll look more at wrist devices.
