I haven't tried the cups yet, but my 18-month-old son uses the bowls in the morning to drink milk from his cereal. The straws appear to be suitable for use; they are narrow at the bottom and have a smaller opening, so I believe he will be able to drink without gulping. br>It may seem silly, but a small pipe cleaner to clean the inside of the straws would have been nice. I had one that came with a straw-equipped sippy cup, which I used. br>The plastic isn't particularly thin, but it doesn't appear to be particularly long-lasting. I don't think these will last very long, but they work well now, and you get a lot of bowls and cups, so I think it's a good deal. The plastic on the straws needed to be trimmed, which was my biggest gripe. I tried to show in the photos that on a couple of bowls, there was thin plastic that was obstructing the opening and, more importantly, causing concern that some plastic bits might come loose and be ingested. I also had to file the tops of the straws because they were sharp and appeared to have too much plastic on them. There's got to be something wrong with the molding process. It was inconvenient and time-consuming, but I would not have allowed my child to use them if I had not done so.
I really like this product; before it, my kids wouldn't drink nearly as much water as they should, but now, I believe it's because of the color and the straw, they're constantly asking for more. I'm not sure how long they'll last because I only got them a few weeks ago, but so far they've held up well. The price is also very good; I was only looking for bowls, but this is a better deal because I'm getting both bowls and cups.
These are popular among my children. So far, they've been able to withstand a number of high-profile tests. Cycles in the rack dishwasher The icons/words for microwave and dishwasher are mixed up on the box, which makes you doubt the product's safety a little - I gave them a test run in the dishwasher on their own to make sure they wouldn't ruin anything, and they were fine; I haven't used them in the microwave and probably won't. I'd probably buy them again because they're easy to clean (dishwasher) and the kids enjoy them.
The cups and bowls were perfect in every way. They are very sturdy and were purchased for my grandkids. They are also fond of them. I wish you could choose your own colors so that I could get all of the same colors (which would result in less color debate LOL), but I can live with it. I'm not sure if they can be microwaved; I haven't tried it, but it's something you should mention in the description. Many children prefer their cereal with warm milk.
After receiving the two bowls for Christmas, my children were ecstatic to use them. We've used a few of the items, but tonight my son asked what was wrong with one of the cups, and when I tried to drink through the straw, it's almost as if there's no opening at the bottom to allow liquid to pass through. So disappointing; I'll have to go back and read the rest; however, I like the concept!.
At dinner time, she enjoys sipping milk from her cereal bowl and drinking like a big girl (no spills!).
My one-year-old will love the bowls. She enjoys chicken soup and typically drinks it with a straw; this was purchased specifically for that purpose and works perfectly! The cups are also great, but she'll use them more once she figures out how to avoid spilling on herself.
It's probably best to invest in a straw brush so you can clean the insides of the straws as well. I'm glad I went ahead and bought it!.
