Brown and Medela bottles. We have two children, and they both enjoy Dr. Brown bottles. It's the first thing we think of when we need something. Some people advise purchasing a variety of bottles and experimenting with them. If Dr. Brown doesn't work out, I say try one of the others! br>With our second and first, we started using level three at 7 months and 8 months, respectively, and we never pushed them to use a faster nipple because they were perfectly happy with level 2. The only reason we went to level three was to make it easier to transition to sippy cups. br>These nipples are incredibly tough. It has been used by both of my children. They are frequently washed in the dishwasher and have lasted for two years (surprise) and counting. br>We've had no leaks using these nipples with the medela bottles and collars. These are, of course, mostly used with Dr. Brown bottles. There are two types of nipples: regular and options, and this one can be used for both. br>br>Breastfeeding: I prefer to pump, but I do occasionally breastfeed my child at night. When my youngest was younger, she seemed to be able to switch between nursing and bottle feeding with ease. She appears to be pickier at 7 months and prefers the bottle. Rice cereal: br>br> Rice cereal was used at level three. It should work with this nipple if it's diluted enough. This is appealing because it is slightly heavier, and many people claim that it improves their nighttime sleep. At the age of five months, we tried rice cereal with this nipple. Although I think it's fine to feed rice cereal to a 5-month-old in a simple and quick manner, my children did not sleep any better because there was rice in their milk. Overall: br>br> The transition nipple is fantastic. We've spent the most time on level three, from 7 to 14 months. My kids adore them because they are extremely durable.
I bought these a little early, thinking that my four-month-old would be able to handle them because he was sucking his level two nipples so hard that he was sucking air past the side of the nipple. I abandoned that plan halfway through his first feeding with these and stored them for a few months because he couldn't keep up and began gulping after about 2 ounces. After that, he started slowing down to a "comfortable" pace with the level 2's, so it must have worked. I'm sure some parents will say something to the effect that I should have known better, but I figured these would be like a level "2. " 5" because the difference between level 1 and level 2 didn't appear to be that great. Someone out there, I'm sure, will explain the mathematical differences in orifice size and correct the record. And, yes, this is our first child, so I (we) are still trying to figure things out.
Browns because they have a lot of positive feedback. I'm a foster parent with my 20th child in placement, so I've tried every bottle and nipple out there- The nipples leak, so these are my LEAST favorite. I tried three different sizes of nipples, and they all work the same way. The bottles have been properly assembled. They simply dripping. The worst part is when you make the bottle and shake it to mix everything together. Milk drips out of the lid as it fills with milk. As a result, there are droplets flying everywhere and a lid full of milk ready to spill when you open it. (See photos) This is extremely disappointing, given the high cost of these bottles and nipples. Also, it takes twice as long for my 5-month-old to finish her formula from this bottle as it does from the Philips Avent bottle, which is what we've been using since the Dr. Browns have become practically unusable. You can't put them in a diaper bag because they'll leak. If you use them at home, you must shake and open them over a sink to avoid a milk mess all over the floor. And for some reason, my daughter finds it difficult to drink from them. I have a 9 month nipple on them that she uses, but she still can't drink as quickly as she'd like. I have a 3 month nipple on our Avent and it works fine, but I wouldn't recommend it. I don't think there's a difference between gas and colitis, and the headache and mess aren't worth it.
Brown's bottles and do not require the venting insert. However, if you want to use them without the insert, they won't work because the venting doesn't work and creates a vacuum when the baby sucks on it, making it difficult to drink with each suck. I've included a photo of the original nipple (left-hand side). This one (right - it's good) and this one (left - it's good) are both good. (This does not function. ) What astounds me is that the seller's size 2 nipples were correct.
This item should never be purchased! This isn't a genuine Dr. Brown nipple; it's a knockoff made in China. Because we also eat rice cereal, we've been using a level 3 for my son. The flow is usually ideal for him, but since we started using these amazon nipples, he has been drowning while eating. Choking and spitting up on a regular basis. When I turned the bottle upside down, the nipple leaked all over the place.
I'd been using Evenflo and Lifefactory nipples, which were both much thicker. The best part about these is that each nipple has a 3 printed on it, making them easy to distinguish from others. br>br>The part that irritates me the most is when they collapse. My 5-month-old threw up these on a regular basis. He's grown accustomed to them, and while they still collapse, they do so less frequently. Either he or I must break the suction in order for it to self-correct, or I must break the suction in order for air to enter. It's a shame because these nipples were reasonably priced when Evenflo and Lifefactory weren't.
Brown bottles have always been a favorite of mine. I ordered these because I needed new nipples. They've been a great success. The only issue I have, and the reason I only gave a 4 star instead of a 5, is that one of the nipples had a crack in it, and the hole was much larger than the size 3 I ordered, as if it had been cut. Despite this one error, they are a very trusted brand and company, and I highly trust their bottles and nipples. br>Otherwise, amazing product, and that would not deter me from purchasing from them again; they are a very trusted brand and company, and I highly trust their bottles and nipples despite this one error.
