I'm writing because, based on the reviews, the Silverettes appeared to be magical and would solve all of my BF issues (severe pain and damage to both nipples, R more than L). On the internet, I couldn't find anything negative to say about them. br>br>However, they did not resolve my BF issues. Locating a dependable source of information My BF problems were alleviated by hiring a lactation consultant to come to my home, improving latch technique, doing saline soaks after feedings, and resting my more injured breast (pumping all but one session per day on the more affected side, then gradually increasing the frequency as the pain improved). With all of the BF-related content, it's easy to become overwhelmed. I've bought a lot of related crap, and these are firmly in the category of things I wouldn't buy again. They were comfortable enough and protected my nipples from chafing, but they were extremely expensive and did not heal my nipple damage despite wearing them 24 hours a day for about two weeks. I know it's not the news you were hoping for. br>br>If you have some spare cash, give them a shot! Maybe save your money for an IBCLC consultation if they're a stretch for you and you're only buying them out of desperation to relieve your pain, as all of us who have read the reviews on this Amazon product have felt.
Whether or not you've had nipple trauma, these are excellent for prevention. Anyway, here's my take on things as a first-time mother.
- Breastfeeding appeared to be a natural and simple process to me. Wrong. I developed cracked and bleeding nipples, which quickly turned into a more serious injury. It can't possibly get any worse, can it? My sweet daughter, whom I affectionately dubbed "my little snapping turtle," had gnawed away at layers upon layers of skin. This is something I had no idea could happen. It appeared that parts of my nipple were missing. So now I'm lying in bed at 3 a. m. , shuddering at my daughter's cries for food, knowing I needed to feed her but having to lay myself down at the breastfeeding alter to do so. I was in agony and crying for three weeks. I've tried every trick in the book during that time. There were creams galore, saline soaks, APNO cream, and so on, but nothing was helping me heal because I had huge, open wounds (yep, I ended up with mastitis as well). Finally, my mother discovered these cups, these little miracle cups, and the first time I put them on, I was able to put on a shirt as well as feel relief because I could see healing taking place. It seemed as if the clouds parted and angels began to sing. I've only taken them off to feed her, and I'll keep them on the rest of the way because they're preventing future issues. It takes time to retrain my daughter's mouth and get a good latch, even though she was severely lip/tongue tied and had surgery to fix it. So, even if her latch isn't perfect, I can still breastfeed comfortably because these cups help prevent injury while also assisting in my recovery. br>I know that's a really long rating, but I'm so passionate about this product that I wanted to tell you the whole story so you could see how valuable it is. br>So you're probably wondering if there are any drawbacks. Yes, compression can sometimes result in a slight ring. In my opinion, it is a small price to pay, and despite the compression, I find them very comfortable to wear. It also keeps my nipple from rubbing against my bra or nursing pad as an added bonus. You've also been compared to Madonna in other reviews. Maybe if you wear a very thin shirt with no padding in your bra. But, to be honest, I've never had that experience. You can't tell because I wear them with my nursing pads tucked in between my bra and cups. So that's all there is to it. These are the only two disadvantages that could exist. So put your money into them. It literally saved my life and allowed me to keep breastfeeding.
I was hesitant to purchase this because the reviews were mixed, and I was confident that I would not be one of the women with damaged nipples because I had learned about proper latch and all that. My nipples, on the other hand, had never seen so much traffic, and before I knew it, they were two bloody wounds, even before my milk arrived on day four. Creams and gel pads didn't help with the healing process, but they did provide some relief in between feedings. I would hold my baby for a few minutes every time she wanted to nurse, trying to muster all of my willpower to let her suck on those wounds. I was in tears because it hurt so much. As a result of my desperation, I ordered silverettes. It took a few days for them to arrive, and I realized that I should have ordered them sooner, especially since I had the option of returning them for free. They did, after all, assist. My nipples started to feel better within the first 24 hours, though they took a few days to heal. However, things were gradually improving. Silverettes were making me feel a little uneasy. When you put them on, a vacuum is created, which causes an odd pulling (slightly painful) sensation. But it was nothing in comparison to the injuries I had sustained. This unfavorable sensation faded over time as well. I'm overjoyed that I purchased them. I'm kicking myself for not purchasing them prior to the birth of my child. This would have most likely saved me from the excruciating pain I was experiencing. And it makes no difference to me if they appear strange through their clothing. Actually, if you wear a reusable nursing pad, they don't show much.
Well, I'm a guy who hasn't used this product, but here's what I've observed: br>br>When our baby was born, breastfeeding was extremely difficult for my wife, and I felt helpless as I watched her suffer for weeks. She, on the other hand, remained unflappable and swallowed the bullet. "I'll try anything at this point," she reasoned after hearing about these from someone. " Well, they were effective! I'm not sure what the science is behind it all, to be honest. However, I believe that wearing these on your nips traps moisture and prevents them from cracking or drying out. She didn't complain about breastfeeding again after a couple of days. It's been refreshing to see her enjoy rather than dread feeding our baby. Thank you for inquiring about our baby's name, Isla Rue.
