It's nearly flush, but I had to rub a little olive oil around the outside of the flange and firmly push them in. That was the most expedient method of getting them in.
Freemie sells OEM inserts for collection cups as small as 15 mm, but the price is significantly higher than Maymom's.
Because I washed them after every use, I didn't have to replace them unless they tore.
They do, in fact, However, I've noticed that it causes me to remain in stimulation mode for longer periods of time.

I used 24mm medela and 24mm spectra flanges in the freemies. If I use the 21mm flanges, it will hit the end of my nipples because they are very stretchy. These don't bother me in the least. They're made of a supple silicone. I strongly suggest it.
Hack—- To insert these, simply wipe them with a small amount of edible nipple cream, such as lanolin or motherlove, and then remove with a qtip. You use a qtip to apply the same balm or Vaseline to the "insert" and then slide it between the hard plastic flange and the "insert. " If you do this on both sides of the insert, the suction and friction will be broken, and the insert will come out easily. I keep Vaseline and motherlove near my drying rack so that I can clean the inserts and flanges quickly after each session.
These are for my Medela flanges, which I purchased. To help with my elastic nipples, I added friction to them rather than resizing them. I had been using BeauGen cushions, but I was still having trouble with them taking a long time to empty. As a result, I came up with the idea of using these in my pump flanges. They had a significant impact on output right away. They assisted in keeping my nipple from stretching out. I emptied in record time, getting nearly twice as much as I normally do. I felt ecstatic. Until I discovered that this insert had caused an injury to my nipple due to a sharp edge. I got a sore as a result of it, and then it scanned over. I went back to my previous setup. I tried these with Beaugen cushions two days later, and they were significantly more comfortable, with good output results. br>br>So I went to Freemie to see if they had a different insert design. They do have ones with the same sharp edges at the funnel, but they do not have those edges in their even sizes. It's a gentle incline with a softer feel. I'm now wearing Freemie Fitmies in size 20. I can use them without having to deal with the BeauGens.
He was born fully formed, but he suffers from a variety of health issues. I attempted to begin pumping as soon as possible and was successful. My nipples, on the other hand, would stretch and I'd only get a small amount of milk out. My elastic nipples were discovered later. I bought these and they have made a significant difference in my output. My supply has been hampered by my son's nicu stay and the traumatic birth. But, with these and the spectra s1, I'm gradually increasing my pumping capacity. br>br>These fit into the Spectra 24mm flange perfectly. There is very little milk underneath them, and they remain in place throughout the pumping session. I also used these in my Medela handpump, and they fit perfectly.
I can't use the flanges that come with any pump because they're too big. These were purchased for my freemies, but they also fit my 24mm Spectra flanges as well as the Medela flanges on my hand pump. Because I needed two sizes, I now have two sets of flanges to rotate. They are opaque, which can be inconvenient, but they are extremely comfortable. I still use coconut oil to lubricate them, but they're a lot more comfortable now.
My daughter was born prematurely and hasn't been able to successfully breastfeed. Pumping was extremely painful because I developed fissures around one nipple. I experimented with various flange sizes, increasing them incrementally in an attempt to reduce friction. I purchased a different pump in the hopes that the different flanges would be more suitable for my needs. Alas. Each time I had to pump, I started crying. I discovered these in tears at 12 a. m. one night. They arrived the next day and immediately made an impact! I wasn't using them with the freemie, but rather with my philips avent pump, and the pain was gone almost immediately. Since the painful sensation has subsided, it's difficult to tell if I'm getting less suction with these. However, while my output was lower the first two times I used them, it has since recovered and possibly increased. It's possible that my supply is increasing as a result of the fact that I can relax while pumping!.
These are a less expensive alternative that is still of excellent quality. Silicon is a pleasant material to touch. I believe the cutouts for the milk to flow out of at the ends could be a little larger, but I'm not sure if this makes a difference in production. At first, getting them into the flange is difficult, but after a few attempts, it becomes second nature. It's a little difficult to get them out, but that's only because they're so tight. I'm overjoyed that I came across these!.
These were the perfect size for my freemie cups. They were far superior to the larger sizes in terms of performance. I only wish they came in smaller sizes, such as 19mm or 20mm. With the 24mm, I had a lot of friction and blisters, but once I got these, pumping was a lot easier because it didn't hurt as much.
