The reason why not is not apparent to me. Since I have not yet used it for that purpose, I am not 100% confident, but based on the way it looks, I would say yes.
Stretching the stripes (as in the photo) results in a lighter appearance. When they arrive in the packaging, the stripes appear darker.

In spite of its thin padding and lack of thickness, this cover does an excellent job of keeping the wind off of baby while in and out of the car, and she is always covered with a blanket inside the car seat anyway. I absolutely love the cover. It is cute and gender neutral, with a great aesthetic, and it is so It can be used as a nursing cover by sliding it over your head. The blanket can also be used to provide warmth to baby on cooler days in Spring and Summer. Despite many washes, there is no wear out to the stretch or fading of the color. It's the BEST carseat cover we've ever used, and we've recommended it to several friends. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book!.
It is lightweight while still providing a secure base for nursing. It gives 360 degree coverage, as opposed to my other covers, which only cover my side when I lift my shirt.
