There is a lot of thin material on the board. In the reviews, you'll mostly see pictures from 2016, when the quality was much better and the colors of the letters were much better selected. Sometimes I put it on her bookshelf so she can display it because it's so cute, but I love to let her play with it. I had hoped for pastel colors but I did not get what I had expected. A star is taken away based on the fact that the paint came chipped on the first letter. It seemed to be teething at first, but now that we've had it for a month or so, she has chewed the rest of the letters and there are no signs of teething no marks, no paint chips. It was chipped, hence the letter had arrived damaged. looks like it would stand up to a 1 year old's test of time.
