No, the ceramic coating will not be damaged or removed by this method. It's what I use on all three of my ceramic-coated vehicles. I don't believe it works well as a wheel cleaner, though. As a bug gut remover, it is more effective. I'm thinking about buying it again for that purpose.
Yes, it is possible. This cleaner is one of my favorites. On a cool surface, use it at full strength. Use a tool that won't scratch the wheel's surface to clean it. It's also excellent for tire cleaning.

Fortunately, I was able to repair the damage with hand polishing, but buyers beware. Never before has a product caused such damage to my wheels. Even the low-cost items, such as meguires, are of high quality.
Every few weeks, I try to give my daily driver cars a maintenance wash to keep the dirt and grime off of the wheels and tires. br>br>I've used Megs hot wheel (tired of buying 24 ounces at a time), Megs wheel brightener (too harsh and left the rotors rusty, so I had to use a separate tire cleaner), Adams wheel cleaner (stinks too much but works well), and P S Brake Buster is a vehicle that can be used to remove brakes from a vehicle It cleans both the wheels and the tires thoroughly, there are no rusted rotors, and it does not stink. This product is a slam dunk.
I must admit that I had my doubts about the product, but I was pleasantly surprised. I took a photo of the before and after. After two years and 7,500 miles of driving, the wheels came from my Mustang. I did notice that the cleaner worked better when it was diluted. I used full strength on the first wheel I cleaned, the rear wheel, and it didn't come out nearly as clean as I had hoped. I filled my sprayer with water and it did a much better job, as shown in the front wheel. It still needed a little scrubbing, but it wasn't too bad considering I had never cleaned the inside of the wheels in two summer seasons of driving.
This isn't ideal. I'd compare the cleaning power of this product to Meguiar's non-acidic wheel and tire cleaner, diluted 4:1. In terms of value, Meguiar's non-acidic wins out, but Brake Buster seems to dwell better because it's thicker and produces a lot more suds (more lubrication). The corrosion prevention P hasn't appeared to provide any obvious benefits to me. It claims to provide, according to S. Overall, a good product, but not particularly noteworthy. If you want to save money, go with Meguiar's non-acidic.
Then I went back and washed it all over with a pressure washer. It was 100% clean at this point. I'm impressed for only a 5-minute soak. I returned a second time, this time using a detailer's brush to scrub the tires and go over the wheels in areas where the foam had failed to reach. I'm pretty sure I've never seen my wheel and tire as clean as this. As a second test, I normally use a towel to apply tire shine to avoid spraying the wheels and rims. Normally, by the time I'm done, the towel is completely black, but there was almost no dirt picked up this time. It truly demonstrates how well this system cleans all of the dirt and brake dust; I'm very impressed.
OK, but the cost is reasonable. This appears to be a moderately effective wheel cleaner for removing brake dust, which is what it claims to do. As a detailer, I clean my car on a regular basis, so it is never truly dirty. The wheel cleaner is excellent for this purpose; my wheels are in excellent condition. br>br>I had a customer come in who had never taken her WRX anywhere other than an automatic car wash, and the brake dust was caked (and I mean properly bonded) to the wheel surface. I applied a thick layer of Brake Buster to the wheels and let them sit for about 2 minutes before agitating and rinsing them. It did a good job of getting the majority of the contaminants off, but I believe there were still some embedded contaminants. After that, the wheels were in desperate need of claying. This isn't a spray that works like magic. turn on, rinse- Spots remained even after agitation for the sparkly wheels product. (Keep in mind, this is a car that has been badly neglected. ) br>br>Even when foamed, the smell isn't great. I'm not fussed, but Meguiar's products have a better overall scent - Just putting it out there. Wheel cleaners, on the other hand, don't seem to be as important as, say, an interior cleaner. br>br>However, the cost is reasonable. This is similar to the majority of dollar store items. They're not only inexpensive, but they're also effective. They're almost as good as the name-brand versions. They are, however, inexpensive. You have to pay to play if you truly want top-of-the-line efficiency.
I only drive my car when the weather is nice, and I keep it clean and in the garage. Most wheel cleaners are adequate, but I have found that using an iron remover on occasion is necessary; however, using two products is twice the work. They're super clean and shiny with almost no effort, and they're the brightest silver I've ever seen. I applied some detailer to the car and parked it in the garage. The back wheel looked fantastic the next morning, but the front wheel had a reddish tinge to it, as if it had been covered in brake dust, which was not the case. When my wife was out of the house, I went into the garage to check it out and it looked perfect. br>br>By Sunday morning, it had turned reddish again, and I knew I'd have to re-do it. the wheel should be thoroughly cleaned But later, when my wife was gone, I went to check it out and it looked fantastic once more. br>br>On Monday morning, after my wife had left, I went into the garage and it looked perfect, until I realized that my wife has a red SUV, which was reflecting onto the super shiny surface and fooling me into thinking the wheel had a reddish tint to it. br>br>The bottom line is that it works so well that a seasoned detailer will see a reflection in it and, rather than thinking "wow, how clean it is," will conclude that it can't be that clean, so it must still be dirty.
