For softer conditions, this tire can be turned around. I use it on my yamaha yz250 woods bike and am pleased with the results. At high speeds of around 50 mph, it hooks up nicely.
For all kinds of tierans, such as large nobeys.
I now need a new tire.
It's a directional tire with two tread patterns that can be used in either direction. In one direction, as you can see in the photo, the knobs form a long, deep, wide paddle that is ideal for sand and other soft conditions. The paddles in the opposite direction also function as paddles, but they are straighter for use on intermediate terrain. It has arrows pointing in two directions, one for intermediate and the other for soft. Personally, I'll start with the soft side because it appears to perform well on both hard and soft surfaces. When the knobs begin to round off significantly, I'll likely flip the tire and see how it performs in the opposite direction, as the fresh side of the knobs should still provide adequate traction. Winter has arrived in force here, so I won't be able to put the tire to the test for a while, but for 72 dollars, I'm very pleased with it; it's exactly as it appears in the picture. Because there aren't any, I'll most likely upload a few videos to YouTube so you can see how it looks and performs (I'll definitely be doing some deep sand hill climbs with it). The tire I'm currently using is a dunlop mx11, which didn't last very long when I went from dirt roads to sand and back to dirt roads. I'm hoping for a similar level of performance from this Kenda, but with a longer lifespan. The center knobs are thick and appear to be able to withstand the long dirt roads and short stretches of pavement that I must travel to reach the trails and sand.
After a two-hour ride, the tire was showing signs of wear, and while it had good traction, it only lasted half as long as any other tire I had previously used.
In sand and dirt, it hooks up well, but one ride revealed excessive edge wear.
