Despite the fact that they appear to be of excellent quality. Because of the positive feedback, I decided to purchase these rings. There is one flaw with them, even though they appear to be of high quality. They fit perfectly in the rim, indicating that the OD is accurate. The issue is the hub's fitment. The OD of the hub, according to VW specifications, is 57. 1 mm, but the ring is too loose. It moves 0 degrees to the left and right. When positioned over the hub, it adds 3mm to the overall height. I haven't tried putting it all together with the wheel on, but it's not going to work with this much playbr>. There is no lateral movement when the OE rim is used with the same hub.
These were purchased to replace the dreadful plastic rings that came with my winter wheels and tires from Discount Tire. Even though these were better, there was still enough play that I was experiencing vibrations at 70 mph. With my stock summer wheels and tires, my GTI is completely vibration-free at 125 mph. br>br>If you want to be "to specification," don't get these; instead, spend the money on ECS tuning and get APR. I now have 0 to 95 vibrations (I haven't tried any higher). br>br>Please note that this is not an ECS promotion. This is only for petrolheads who demand perfection from their German automobiles.
I knew these wouldn't be a perfect fit based on the reviews, so here are the steps I took to make them work:
- clean the hole in the wheel hub and the hub surfaces,br>- Ensure that the ring is snugly fitted over the hub and into the wheel,br>- put ant- encircle the hubcentric ring with your hands,br>- -br>-br>-br>-br>-br>-br>-br> Wrap one layer of electrical tape around hub, do not overlap, so tape sticks out over front edge of hub, then bend edge of tape over end of hub so wheel slides over and does not catch an edge,br>- if hub is even slightly loose, wrap one layer of electrical tape around hub, do not overlap, so tape sticks out over front edge of hub, then bend edge of tape over end of hub so wheel slides over and does not catch an edge,br>- if hub is even slightly loose, wrap one layer a wheel stud top center helps here,br>- place wheel in position to slide onto hub tighten each lug one turn at a time in a star pattern until it is properly torqued. br>- go drivingbr>br>This worked for me, and it drives smoothly on the highway at all speeds. It's worth noting that these rings aren't meant to support weight; rather, they're meant to get the wheel on dead center.
This set of metal hub rings will fix you up if your wheels are shaking like your wife's whoha raddleder. br>br>I'll be honest, the OD is spot on, but the ID (at least for my platform) seemed blond and out of place (too big). Volkswagen MQB and Audi A3 8V.
These were purchased to fill a gap in my 2016 Audi S3's suspension. The wheels were downsized from stock 19's to a set of 17's from a 2009 Audi A4. These rings were technically 2/10 of a mm too big, but they slid right in with a little rubber mallet action. At higher speeds, there are no more wheel vibrations, which is a fantastic fit. What's more, the price is ridiculously low. Discount Tire wanted to charge me $10 for each ring (total of $40) - They had to be ordered on a case-by-case basis. This product comes highly recommended.
These were purchased for my Mk6 Jetta. They're a good fit for the wheels, but there's at least one flaw. My hub still has a 5mm gap. Although the vibration has been greatly reduced, it is still very noticeable at 70 years old. These would be ideal if the tolerance could be tightened a little more. br>br>However, I am dissatisfied with the final product.
When placed around the hub, there was very little play, as you can see in my video. I recommend that you use some copper-based products. anti-based anti- Grasp the axis of rotation. That should take care of the tiniest wiggle. br>br>I went out and bought the 57. From one millimeter to six hundred and sixty-six millimeters, If you're looking for a 6 mm adapter, keep in mind that Audi/VW rims are either 57 or 58 mm in diameter. 1 or 66. 56mm. That is why the photos were included. It's possible that the adapter won't sit flush against the rim on its own. Don't worry, all you have to do is whack it into place with a rubber mallet. This had no effect on me, and it eliminates the problem of people complaining about the adapter being too loose. It appears that this adapter is constructed of soft aluminum. If you jam it in there, it won't break your rim. br>br>I put my car through its paces on the highway. There were no noticeable vibrations. This product is fantastic value for money, and it should outlast those cheap plastic adapters.
I'm on my second set (2nd car), and both times I tried plastic rings first, which always caused wheel wobble at various speeds. After installing these aluminum rings, all wheel wobble has vanished.
