Questions & Answers

Because I prefer to support American jobs over foreign ones when I can afford to, is this made in the U.S. ?

Despite the fact that MILTON tire tools were made in the United States, they too have sold out and sent jobs to China, as they have most American companies (Stanley vise-grip, Craftsman). The tool would be proudly listed if it's made in the USA, whereas it would probably have a white font on a white background if it's not. My purchase of the tool was over a year ago, but it does have the feel of a cheap import. I guess this is better than pulling stems in with pliers, despite the rough edges and loss of tactile sensation.

The product would have been purchased if it had been made in the USA. Is it not possible for the manufacturer to tell me? It would be nice if they could brag about the fact that it was made in their country! ?

It is safe to assume that the item is imported if it is not bragging by the manufacturer. The question you ask appears to be more of a rude comment than a genuine

The tool you are looking at is made in the USA, right?

The packaging of the product can be seen in a review here dated August 1, 2018. "Made in USA" appears on the front of the item in a box at the top right of the box. The packaging for this item is however different from what is shown in the product listing today. The packaging on that product is more plain and does not indicate where it is manufactured.

Can you tell me what the actual length is?

There are 11 total words in this sentence. It measures 5 inches tall. It is 10 inches from the "Part that flexes" to the "Part on which the buttons are located". It measures 5 inches tall.

A rubber TPMS valve must be mounted with this tool
5/5

For their well-known tire tools, I choose Milton because they are steel and made in the United States. It is a little harder to install the rubber TPMS valves because the shaft in the middle makes them more difficult. I am not concerned about the lack of a covering as this tool is used on steel wheels, but I could always slide some rubber tubing on the handle or put a piece of padding around the wheel if needed to protect it. The Amazon Product Dimensions (16) are probably the package dimensions of the tool, while the length of the handle is 10 1/2 inches (photos), which should provide adequate leverage to the user.

Joints that bend in both directions should be considered universal joints
4/5

It was really important for me to get a cable box It is part of Milton's line, though I bought it for that reason. As a first step in mounting the tires, I used it to grip inner tube stems into wheelbarrow, etc. wheels. Due to the only direction in which it bends, it is more difficult to screw onto a stem while the stem is on a wheel. Tubeless valve stems could probably be inserted using this, but I only have to do that every few years, and pliers and a sacrificial valve cap have always done the trick. Now that I have the right tool, I can do that.

I expect it to work
5/5

This is a product that does exactly what it should Install the rubber stem by piling it up and levering it into position. In order to protect the rim, I used a small piece of wood (2x4).

This is a nice heavy steel valve stem puller that still works
5/5

My search for the right puller ended with this nice heavy steel valve stem puller. A good name for tire accessories has always been associated with Milton. As of now, it has not been an issue.

It is a tool that does its job well
5/5

In order to replace the old one that I had in my auto shop program in high school, I got this. She vanished. Milton tools are of high quality, and should last a couple of decades (assuming nothing else goes wrong with it. It is disappearing.

In the time of my grandfather, Milton air products and tools were a common sight. The stuff had already been shipped to China before some of it arrived.
