For a Ford Ranger 3 that was manufactured in 2002. Is it necessary to set the 1 piston to top dead center in order to use this tool properly?

I'm not sure about your Ranger, but one of the cylinders in my Taurus had to be at TDC of the compression stroke. The vibration damper assembly had some marks on it that helped determine TDC's exact position. If removing the 1 spark plug proves difficult, look at the firing order to see which cylinder is 360 degrees away from 1 and use that cylinder on the exhaust stroke. John

0 cam syncro tool is a tool that allows you to syncro two cameras together. The cam syncro tool performed admirably when it came to setting the cam syncro on a 3. 0 Ranger. The engine started right up and there were no error codes. br>My only criticism is that it is a Taiwanese-made tool. With a name like OTC, I was hoping for something made in the United States.

I had removed the synchronizer from the engine, then rotated it without realizing it was missing, necessitating the purchase of this tool to replace it. It went off without a hitch.
