Product Description

The portable crane can be mounted on a pickup truck or truck bed for easy access to engines, boats and other gear.
The tailgate can be positioned so that the loading area is open for maximum clearance
A hitch coupler mounts to a 2"-inch receiver hitch to permit installation only when crane use is needed
A boom is expected to begin at There are 2" to 56" in this range. Having a 7-inch wide opening allows trucks to load and unload easily
In order to prevent overloading on your vehicle's hitch receiver, the load is supported and distributed among adjustable legs of the crane

Questions & Answers

When you lift the hoist hook, how much do you lift from the ground?

The jack will raise the boom from 33" to 89" above the ground (a 56" lift) when the boom is collapsed (at the 500 lb position). By the time the boom is in the horizontal position, it will rise another 23" and stand 66" above the ground.

Do you really think this applies just to 500 lb weight? Can you tell from the photo with the white truck that the crane is very large?

to handle a maximum load of 500 lbs when the boom is collapsed and 250 lbs when the boom is In the same vein, the same crane bolted to a pick-up It is recommended that you leave it parked on a floor dolly or up bed as engine hoists can handle double the load, but if it is rotated the 2" extended hitch bar can twist the load. There is also a small bar dangling from the load As opposed to a chain, steel cables have a diameter of about 1 inch.

Can you tell me how much this unit weighs in actual pounds? I would like this info to be sent to Amazon. ?

Here is the email I received Afterwards, I attached it to the hitch on my truck and locked it in place. There is no way that this can weigh more than 100lbs. There is so much weight on this thing that it feels like it weighs 200 pounds. It will be very difficult to put it in and remove it from the receiver hitch on my own. In theory, you should be able to drive the vehicle to your wood chopping area, attach the trailer hitch, drive to your house, and then take it out of the trailer We all have 4WDs, thus assuming everyone has one.

Can you tell me how much the thing weighs in total? Is it heavy enough to be lifted by one person?

The two heaviest individuals are 40 and 200 pounds respectively Answers to simple questions are often given incorrectly, and I don't know why. The crane weighs 70 pounds based on the digital scale I used to weigh it. One strong person could lift and install it, but it is difficult but not impossible.

In a Reasonably Good Way It's Well Designed, but It Has It has not yet been used for a load, so I will update this review once it has been used for one
3/5

Assembling the kit took about an hour for this highly experienced mechanic, but there should be instructions and not just a diagram of the parts. It appears that the design and manufacture are decent for a Chinese product, but there are at least three significant flaws which required additional work to repair.

The U-shaped interface posed a significant challenge as well. I had to use a pipe clamp to press the sides of the bracket so that I could install the flat washer and lock washer onto the hinge/pulley bolt, and I was only able to tighten the nut I drilled two 5/16" holes to insert another bolt above the pulley just above the boom's rear (see picture #1) to act as a cable keeper, so I drilled two 5/16" holes right above the pulley. You need to be aware that as you lower the boom using the hydraulic jack from horizontal to its downward storage position, the cable will tighten on the winch, so you need to release the ratchet dog and then reinstall it to ensure the cable remains Also, the cable may arrive loose, and it will be poorly spooled onto the winch drum when you receive the winch. To rewind the cable in a winch with a load on a hook or leather line, the entire cable needs to be unspooled and rewound Keep the cable spooling evenly by applying a gloved hand to it and winding it carefully so there will be no The cable I received had a broken strand of wire sticking out, so I recommend using leather gloves and taking care when handling yours. There is a long bolt that is connected to the 1" jack piston inside the 1-" jack tube Five eighths of an inch U-shaped A bracket holds the piston in place at the top of the boom, but there is nothing to hold it in place. In order to form the spacers, I cut two pieces from a 3/4" PEX pipe (see image Thirdly, the bearing race on the bottom of the crane receiver mount tends to fall out if the mount is inverted during installation or storage, since the bearing race is matched to the tapered roller bearing on the bottom of the crane's cylindrical frame. As a result, I only have to keep the upper crane assembly mounted into the lower hitch receiver section (which is locked with the hand screw) and remove and install it as a unit by using the extended foot as pivot point. It is a little heavier than what I used before (70 lbs total), but it is more secure, and I don't need to worry about the roller bearings. Furthermore, I was not concerned about the need to pull out tools to replace the boom extension bolt, so I substituted a hitch receiver pin and keeper in place of that It is unfortunate that a crane with the potential to be so useful has so many weaknesses. I. *B. P. Another attachment was added to the end of the boom and I used a bolt hole for a keeper on the small end pulley, allowing me to lift a load without utilizing the cable winch (see picture #4).

A great hoist that has been slightly modified to meet my needs
4/5

I purchased this hoist to load large pieces of wood on a trailer. I have modified it quite a bit to fulfill my needs. this hoist the first is there is no upper bearing on the base, and the second is that if you free spool your cable it can knock the back pulley off its track. The cable must constantly be watched to make sure it doesn't jump out of the groove around the pulleys. Besides those two shortcomings, it is a great hoist that can lift pretty heavy loads without bending, breaking, etc. It is well constructed and well constructed, other than the two issues I mentioned With the electric winch added to the unit, it will help free up a hand while loading the load and unloading it. The attached photo shows the rear pulley. I added a wooden block cut to size that fits in the hole above the pulley and the problem now appears to be solved. On the second photo, we see a piece of wood being loaded onto a Here you can see how I modified the hoist so that it can attach to my trailer, and the electric winch I added as well. Thus far, this has been a successful project.

It is easily usable, but there are a few improvements that could be made to it
4/5

managed to lift 5 gallon buckets of wet sloppy clay out of a 5 foot deep hole that had collapsed. As soon as they lowered the buckets into place it was overly heavy for the workers to push them on cement. There are three engineering issues that I will explain below that caused me to give this product only 4 stars The pros are This machine is built heavy enough to handle a load of 500 lbs
The ram is rated for 2 tons, and the winch is rated for 1000 pounds. I was able to winch some large silver maple chunks up a steep embankment and into my truck with the long winch cable (I believe it is 25 feet long). In the lower unit, the thrust bearing provides effortless swing despite the high load. Both of the pulleys contain bearings, and the large one in the back has two. As a result, the pulleys have deep enough grooves that the cable keeps track well. A grease zert is located on the bottom housing in order to keep the whole rotating section well lubricated. Observations / Cons Assembling it was either not included in the package or the instructions were missing. I was able to assemble the kit without too many mistakes by using the parts list and the pictures provided by users. It seems that there is a problem with the bearings of the large back pulley as a result, the cable slips out of the bracket and between the pulley and the bracket. As soon as this happens, you must disassemble the two pieces for there is not enough space to get the cable out again. As a result, I had to make a couple of spacers with 3/4-inch electrical conduit It was only after several times that I realized what had happened. My grease gun broke off as soon as I attached the grease zert because the grease zert must have been crushed during shipping. It is the user's responsibility to insert the zert. It is the way the back pulley is attached that is flawed. You can either have too little or too much space because if you don't keep your hand on the cable, you won't be able to get it back out without taking the unit apart. It hurts when the cable is frayed and gets Since the stabilizing legs cannot take both pins while the stabilizer is in the full-up position, there is nowhere for them to be stored. It has stabilizer legs and I plan to replace them with trailer tongue jacks so the ground will always be touched when I crank the engine and two, once I put weight on the back of the truck, the leg is held in place as the truck rests In order to shorten the leg, I will have to get another jack up the lift.
