It certainly ought to. It works on my 2006, which is nearly identical to the 2004 model.
No, it won't fit because the oil filter is a different size.

Oil filter and enough oil for leftovers are included in the complete oil change kit. br>Comes with a maintenance sticker, which is nice. br>However, full synthetic oil would be preferable.
Other than the filter, I'm not sure what the difference between this kit and the sportbike2br>version is. This one is made in Japan, while the sportbike2 uses a filter from Thailand. br>br>The FZ09 uses 3 quarts, so I had one left over for my lawnmower.
yamalube is currently on sale for a fantastic price.
It's easy to use and fits my 2013 Yamaha Fz6r perfectly. I do my own oil changes and have had no issues with this oil over the last 4000 miles.
I get a lot of questions about what this kit does, so I took a picture of the back of the box, which lists the applications. The box arrived damaged and leaking, but the oil and filter worked fine. I ordered it again and had no problems, and it arrived much faster this time.
Everything you'll need to complete the task has been provided. My dealer is overcharging me for an oil change.
A fantastic item.
