Questions & Answers

Could you recommend a vehicle that was designed specifically to fit this rollnlock device? None of my normal items fit. ?

Using this device, I have used a positron screw gate carabiner from Black Diamond

In what units does this device have a load capacity (expressed in kN)?

The manual states that 4kn is the standard climbing configuration

Can this be used the same way a rope man 1 is used on a lineman's ?

They will work similarly, but those who are familiar with them will point out some key differences. There is less access to the release mechanism on the rollNlock. When you wear gloves it will be quite uncomfortable compared to not wearing them. A rollNlock stopper is also designed to be a compromise between a rope grab and Because of this, it isn't really the best option in either case. The price of a rollNlock would likely let you buy a readymade lineman's rope complete with a rope grab, sewn sheathed rope, and a stopper for about the same price. The device will not be as versatile as the first, but it will do the job perfectly and have some sort of CE

What is the best way to use this device to work on an edge with adjustable fall protection?

A rope grab can be used for climbing, as well as a quick adjuster for a buck strap or a lanyard. A tree climber may use this device while attached to his lanyard for ease of one-handed It differs from the others since the biner does not have to run through the rope. This allows the full 20 kg of tension to be supported by the locking device and the Furthermore, it has no reliable reason to rely on the biner to carry weight. Fall protection? What about that? The best and safest way to do this is through better devices and methods.

The device has sharp teeth, but it is an amazing one
4/5

There aren't as many rope friendly features as it appears. The teeth do not appear in either of the pictures, the ribbed part does not touch the rope on the 11mm version, just a sharp V By engaging the ribs, smaller ropes can be held. As soon as I filed down the teeth, I realised how great this device is. TR solo users should be aware that if the cam hooks on an edge, it will disengage. You can view the video here.

I found it to be very effective as "fall protection"
5/5

This was something I had found through research, and I chose it for some roof inspections, as a backup for fall (slip) protection to Rain showers occasionally hit the metal roofs of 12 sloped buildings. As a structural engineer, I have a lot of experience with buildings. It's not a device I would necessarily use for a vertical drop with substantial impact rather, it was designed for use with a relatively small impact in the event of a fall, or if I accidentally slipped and began to slide down a In such a small package, you get a great device. I haven't even used it for some of the other features it contains. ) One of the photos shows where I disconnected in order to move freely along the ridge line. In order to move up/down the opposite side of the roof, I of course had to disconnect and rotate the device 180 degrees. Describe the degree. Nevertheless, it is very easy to remove and reattach to the rope in the middle of a race It is long. It simply follows you the whole ascent, so you don't have to pull it by hand or pull the rope through the device, in the same way that a belay device would have to pull through the rope. To descend, you must hold it in your hand and rotate the clamp (cam), but when you let go, the clamp (cam) will return to its original position. This includes (Note Although I realize you are right that the quickdraw setup in the photo was not the perfect attachment for this device, I did not have a locking carabiner through the device at the time, so I used the one I had. ).

You can get a lot for your money, but only if you use it properly
4/5

This product is great. I appreciate its size, as well as its Compared to the Petzl Traxion, this is a simpler model. All in all, this is an excellent deal for the price. The reason the star was taken off is its The pulley is used as a fixed point pulley. If you are pulling straight down, you need to be sure you aren't jerking. To use this technique you will need an oval carabiner or pear ring type of When you use a D shaped carabiner, the rollnlock will sit at an angle when under load, which can cause the rope to jump a little out of the pulley wheel. Your rope can pull the cleat around if you have it in an 'open' position. Also, when your cleat is in an 'open' position, the rope can pull the cleat around and lock it in that You should not also load the rollnlock in the side, since this will cause the same issues as above. Often, it is too difficult to release the cleat from the open position when the bicycle is It can be difficult to release the cleat so that it can grab the rope, even if you quickly take the load off with one hand. The reason for the difficulty is its If the RollnLock is attached to the correct side of your carabiner, it cannot be passed to the opposite side. Therefore, on a pulley position, such as the one shown on You must move frequently if you have to. Before disconnecting from your point, you will need to remove the RollnLock. Next, make sure your biner is connected to the new anchor point before reconnecting the rollnlock. You may become frustrated with this extra step if you move frequently. It is ideal for straight up and down, as well as as a The only thing you need to do is to make sure that you do not side-load it and to use a proper.

A multitool that can do vertical work is practically the best
5/5

In terms of vertical accessories, it's like the leatherman wave. This tool is too small and versatile to be ideal for tackling any specific task, though it is so small and versatile that I end up using it more than I'd like. This tiny monster is never the first thing that comes to mind when I plan a setup on the ground, but I find myself turning to it often for quick tasks when I'm already in the air. There have always been love-hate relationships between me and the wave. For the first five years I used it, until I learned to appreciate it for what it is. They are both not very good at anything but they are around all the time and will do a good job.

The tool is not as effective for climbing trees as I had hoped since it barely fit on my back
3/5

The string barely fit on my 11 mm Samson velocity rope, so it's not much of a good tool for tree climbing. It won't be able to rope ascend by itself if you place it against a branch. So try not to put it against a branch or it will switch features. Basically I bought it because of the feature when you pull the rope and it will not let the load go back, but it is not really useful or trustworthy (like I said on the tree climbing). For the quality of what it offers, it is way overpriced.

Make sure your carabiner is working
4/5

It is the size of the hole on the carabiner that is most common complaint. You cannot wrap the carabiner around a tight bend if you use a pear-shaped carabiner. The GM Oval Screw Loading Carabiners I bought ended up being the best choice for me.

It's a wonderful pulley / ascender that can be used in many ways
5/5

My first impressions were negative, but after using this pulley for a while, I love it. It's so versatile that I bought two so I could see them both working simultaneously. (3 rig) There is a rescue system that does not require It can be locked into normal pulley mode, so you can use it as a regular pulley as well. In my opinion, it seems really well made and is fairly lightweight, making it easy to carry around. In place of the prusik knot, I also use this as a lanyard adjust.

I love using the device to haul my gear
5/5

Great price and great device. In the case that you're going to rope solo with this device, I would suggest backing it up with a gray gray or maybe even a second device. The lever could accidentally open and you could It's also for the same reason why you should tie knots and I'm very happy with the product and I like that it doesn't eat up the rope like a traxion or a.
