What exactly is the purpose of a tread depth gauge? That is what I believed. However, with both stick and digital gauges, I've always had trouble getting consistent readings. Things work well and consistently with this method. Perhaps it's just because the gauge is a little bigger, making it easier to position it against the tire tread with more stability. I'm not sure what I'm saying. It's simple and effective. Other meter-type gauges may work just as well, but I prefer this one. The case is, however, a little gimmicky. Because the gauge is small, the case is also small, requiring it to be secured in another container. A pouch is also included, which is a nice touch. I see a $2 version that only includes the pouch. It's possible that this is a better deal.
When compared to a high precision caliper, the depth of this gauge is accurate. Measurements are consistent. A case and a zippered pouch are included. The case is a little large, but it securely holds the gauge. The bag is attractive.
The information is simple to understand and apply. Metal case and soft storage bag were included in the package.
