Pin? I'm not sure which pin you're talking about, but there's a reason why the probe is flexible (loose). This, I believe, is why this stethoscope is so sensitive and performs so well compared to others I've tried.
It's a completely enclosed system. Yes, if you cut it open, but there's nothing useful inside.
The mechanical vibrations are amplified by this stethoscope. Using it as a listening stick is unlikely to work unless the leak is in a metal pipe that is not vibration-resistant.

I wasn't too pleased when it arrived because the earbuds don't fit in my ear and the red plastic Acorn thing is just a cheap piece of plastic. My biggest issue is that the extension wand doesn't seem to thread well when I touch it to things I do here if there is any type of squeak sir things like that so it doesn't do what it's supposed to do. I'm just afraid that the wand extension will fall down while I'm.
I bought this because I couldn't find the other one I'm sure I bought on Amazon (of course, after I got this one and used it, I discovered the other).
It has a flimsy feel to it, but it serves its purpose admirably. I'm a home mechanic, so I don't have to use it every day, and it's more effective at isolating noises than listening through a heater hose. I'm glad I have it for the price, but I'm not surprised if it breaks in my toolbox.
Is it a good fit for you? No, it gets a little painful in your ears after a while. the good news is that it only took a minute to figure out that the annoying whine was coming from the alternator bearing. at the end of the day, this thing is cheap, guaranteed for life, and it does the job, so I can't take away a star because of the discomfort. Is it possible that I have unusual hearing?.
It's not as comfortable as more expensive mechanics' stethoscopes, and it's unlikely to last as long, but what do these haters expect for $9 shipped? br>br>With the same function as a friend's (comfier and better-made) Snap-On timing belt tensioner, I was able to locate a falling timing belt tensioner in seconds. On a borrowed stethoscope, which works perfectly and, with a little more care when storing it in the toolbox, should last me years.
It performs admirably. I bought it because it was red, which signified that it belonged to me in my store. Because of the higher quality, I wish I had purchased a different Lisle brand. This is a loose fitting item that cannot be tightened.
It's going to change the game.
I can't comment on how well this item performs. The attachment was missing, and the spring between the earpieces was rusted on the one I received. Clearly, this one should not have been sent at all.
