Product Description

Designed to be used with steel brakes.
The number 45.
For 3/16 inch. Includes a set of collets. The following instructions are for the Surseat Mini P45 with 1/4 in brake lines and the custom carrying case Three sixteenths of an inch should be used with split collets. The depth of the tubing is Tubing with a flared end 2. The nut should be inserted into the tool hex cavity3, then the appropriate collet should be inserted around the tube. Four slip springs are used to retain the slide. The lapping shaft should only be rotated into the flare enough to clean up the seat surface. The flare you've been working on is ready to be released.

Questions & Answers

What is the possibility of a bubble flare in this lap?

That doesn't seem to be the case. The instructions state that 45 and 37 degree fittings are required for most American cars, so I guess foreign bubble flares are not recommended.

It says to use this for steel lines, but why cannot it be used for copper lines?

What do you mean by As far as my copper nickel brake lines were concerned, it worked as it should have. As far as I am aware, the copper line is also going to work, but copper tubing for brake lines is not recommended.

Your flare is held in place by a nut that has a great deal of play in it. Despite its limitations, the tool works sort of, even if I would have expected better from this price. If you know where to find a cheap flare tool and lapping compound, you could probably make your own.

Lap your flares if you don't want to risk them
