I bought these to replace the coupler adapters on a HF (Pittsburgh) A/C manifold set, as did others. The HF set's low side coupler didn't appear to be long-lasting, despite the fact that it had never failed before. Furthermore, they didn't "feel" like they'd be able to go on for much longer. So, these are what I got. After only a few uses, I decided to put my manifolds, hoses, and couplers through a nitrogen pressure test. The torn seal on the high side coupler, as seen in the photos, was discovered during this test. Pressure or refrigerant should not flow back out of the hoses through the couplers. I'm not sure when or how it occurred. br>It's also worth noting that one of the ball bearings used to secure the coupler to the adapter on the A/C line was missing (as seen in the second photo on the left of the image). On the low side coupler, it was actually missing. After I discovered the issue with this coupler, I removed one from the high side to "fix" the low side. Apart from that, the couplers have a much better "quality feel" to them than the ones I wanted to replace. Once engaged with the fittings on the A/C lines, they didn't leak at all, and closing and opening felt great. To put it another way, they did a fantastic job. br>I have a feeling these are subject to poor quality control, and you'll be lucky if you get a set with the same issues as me. These would have easily received 5 stars if not for the issues. I didn't want to go any lower because they work just as well as the HF couplers and feel better. In terms of quality, it may be a bit of a chance.
In comparison to the Mountain couplers, which are also available here, I liked these couplers a lot. It was simple to use these. They locked on and released as expected, unlike the Mountain brand couplers, which had a tendency to get stuck on the HI Press port despite having an integrated On/Off rotatable wheel. Unlike the Mountain couplers, it allows you to have positive control. These couplers are quite nice.
I've used these adaptors a dozen times now, and they've always performed as expected. I read a couple of reviews where people said they couldn't get the high-pressure coupler off after using it. I dipped my pinky finger in compressor oil and stuck it in the end of the coupler before attaching it to lubricate the little ball bearings inside the coupler, and they came off with little effort; I'd buy them again and recommend them to a friend.
Does not lock on to high side junk, which messed up my high side fitting and cost me a hundred dollars for a new set of ends, not to mention having to refill and oil system after vacuuming down.
These aren't going to get stuck in the A/C ports. The knobs are large and easy to turn, and adapters for both types of gauge hoses are included. Because it is not made in the United States, it is not of the highest quality, but it is adequate for the home mechanic.
My old, worn-out valves needed to be replaced. I do a lot of automotive air conditioning for people, and these valves work great. The stickers aren't perfectly matched, but if you know what you're doing, you shouldn't have any issues.
The suctions side connector was the only thing I needed, but they all fit together. My gauges were back in working order after a simple replacement. Because the price was so low, I didn't bother looking for another single connector. I would strongly suggest it.
The valve wouldn't open to let the freon in the second time I tried to use them.
