This isn't meant to be used with a bike. It's when you park your motorcycle and lock the front brake.
For a motorcycle, this is what you'll need. If you try this with your electric bicycle, the thief will simply pick it up and walk away.

25-inch handlebars. They are 5", but this item does not fit them. So I bought this so I could go bar hopping with a friend (responsibly, of course) and leave it outside with the front breaks locked so no one could just run away with my bike. br>The problem is I can't get it to lock down, it doesn't fully cover my grips so there's about a 1 to 2 centimetre gap with out the rubber inserts, and it doesn't matter how hard I try to push the thing together to lock them, it doesn'.
The first time I used it, it damaged my hand grip. On the first use, the metal sank into the grip. Rubber protectors can only be added to the bottom half of the device, and the top half digs into the hand grip.
I'm very happy. I recently purchased a moped/motorcycle, and as I work to make it street legal, the idea of anti-theft surfaces in my mind. I was considering a disc break lock at first, but when I saw this throttle, I changed my mind. The idea of breaking the lock appealed to me. One was a must for me. It arrived in the mail recently for me. I'm a little disappointed, Ted, that the pads make using the lock impossible, but the lock functions perfectly without them. br>br>Thanx for the fantastic product.
Because my BMW Urban GS is garaged, I won't use it all of the time, but it's nice to know that a reasonably priced theft deterrent can be handy and quickly lock my BMW Urban GS on those short shopping errands. The only issue is the plastic spacers, which should be epoxy glued on after you figure out how to adjust the grip or replaced with rubber tape. The manufacturer provided different sizes to accommodate different grip sizes. Overall, this product would be extremely beneficial for a heavy bike and would be preferable to carrying an old-school heavy lock and chain. It only takes a few seconds for someone to steal your car if you don't have it.
If you lock it and then squeeze the brake a couple of times, it will pop open.
Without a key, secure it. GO! After you've unlocked it with the key, it's time to go.
I strongly recommend it. This is a VERY secure location; no one will move your bike unless you choose to pick it up.
One inch is stated on the diameter. It will, however, fit 1 inch bars, according to the manufacturer. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The measurements are 27mm- If my memory serves me correctly, the diameter was either 34mm or 38mm. My motorcycle is a custom 2010 Kawasaki Vulcan 900. The grips are standard. This was without any of the rubber inserts, no matter what I did or how hard I held. It wouldn't lock properly because it wasn't fully seated. It was going to shut down. But not quite to the point where I could get the lock to lock. This will not fit because I have 1 inch grips. As a result, I had no choice but to return because it was useless for my bike.
