A piezo crystal is not present in this product. Instead, it has a circuit that boosts the frequency To create a spark, bring a 5 volt battery's voltage to a high enough level. Depending on the state of the battery and how clean the battery contacts are, it generates a spark at the rate of about 8 per second. I wanted to draw your attention to This post will describe how to convert a "C" cell to provide 5 volts of power to directly light an LED, which is why you find the outmoded filament flashlight bulb. It has a minimalist design but is compact and reliable, although the bulb only lasts an average of five years.
The only thing we have here is a spark When lit, there is no flame
Three-eighths of an inch is what the tube ends in
My answer to this question is unlikely to be much use to you. Having mine for over a year is nothing new to me. There may have been a label on the original packaging to indicate where it came from, but that has long been lost. Despite the fact that I haven't changed the battery and it's still as good as when I first got it, I have never had to replace

This was bought the first week of September in anticipation of sitting around my fire pit when the weather turned cool. It refused to spark twice when I used it. I assumed it had a low battery. However, there was no spark after the light was turned on. We assumed battery power would have decreased over time due to a long shelf life. The new battery worked exactly once after replacing the previous one. As a general rule, I don't write a bad review if the product I purchase through Amazon is what it says it is. There is no way I can support the purchase of this product at any price because it is not a good product. As my next step, I will contact the company, and I will update this review accordingly.
As long as the battery is fully charged, it works But I prefer to keep it in a kitchen cabinet and only use it in emergencies, such as when the power goes out. My gas stove flame was out recently due to a blackout, so I tried to light it with a match. Although the spark was present, there was not enough for the flame to light. It is likely that my battery had been worn down over time, even though I had not used it for a long time.
In the end, I used a cheap long lighter (typically used to light outdoor gas grills), which I had been keeping in my kitchen cabinet drawer for three years. Besides, I was well within my rights to use the cheap long lighter for the last 4 years.
Of course, I could have looked around for a C sized battery, but it was just so Furthermore, I generally do not keep C sized batteries around, since I don't usually use them for other purposes. As far as these kinds of products are concerned, I'd very much like to simply forget about them until I end up needing them. In terms of this forget/neglect constraint I have my cheap long lighter passing the test, but I don't have this Spark lighter. As such, it does not qualify as There was no question that adding a physical disconnect switch, to prevent the battery from running down over time, would have made the spark lighter usable, even after being stored in a kitchen cabinet for two years. In any case, I don't know whether that would have made any difference.
In the past, it was difficult to light long matches, and this works just as well. In this case, the built in light is not as effective as it could be, but it is a nice idea nonetheless. It would be useful if the light could also be flexible and extendable so that I can see where the point of ignition is inside the heater but can use a flashlight in my mouth or a headlamp to activate it. Trying to push the pilot light button, open the flap, hold the igniter, and click the button while simultaneously holding the igniter is almost impossible.
My first order was for a review for my restaurant, but I stopped to write one first. Despite still working, this is so beat up that I ordered another one online even though it has been in use daily in a commercial kitchen environment. **I am glad that Amazon has this "You recently purchased this item on" feature. Since this is over four and a half years old, it tells me I bought it four and a half years To reinforce and drive the point home to some clueless people There is no lighter in it. On our commercial grills and gas ranges, it is used to turn on pilot lights. As I have been buying the typical barbeque lighter for years now, which was nothing more than a lighter inside a large plastic housing and usually didn't last more than two weeks in a commercial setting, I decided to give this a try.
Each day, we use this to ignite the propane burner for our crab cooker. Regardless of the weather - rain, shine, wind or snow - first thing in the morning. It is usually able to start the flame when using this lighter. The same one was used for about six months and is still in use. In this case, we had to change out the battery. Since the plastic is not very strong and can break if not handled carefully, such as those of us who get off crab boats when it freezes, it is nice to see that it has lasted so long. Most people find the key ring at the end to be the most annoying part. My first thought was that this would fall apart, but I read some reviews and it only lasts one time. I guess I should get some wire to fix that. It helps to store ours once we have started the cooker indoors, once we turn it on. You need to bring it inside when it gets too wet and let it dry again if you leave it exposed to moist air for too long. As a whole, if you can store it somewhere dry and warm, it is worth the 28 bones.
On November 21st, 2016, I purchased one of these sparkers. Sadly, they are short lived. Approximately one month after the switch was installed, it began to malfunction. It got worse and worse from then on. It looks as though the manufacturer tried to save money on the change as much as possible. It is now early March and the igniter seems to be ineffective. It is advised that you should perhaps expect it to last a few months at best if you purchase one. Thus, buyer beware. There is a problem with the switch. 12 year old Following two years of use, the following update is now available in 2018 It seems that the switch is the weak link. A few months into the use of the device, it became intermittent and unreliable. Nevertheless, we managed to limp along with it. Even two years after the switch was made, it still occurs intermittently. There are times when it works, and other times when it doesn't. There's a light bulb that turns on occasionally, but it isn't reliable, and you have to press the trigger really hard.
But for $25, what can you expect. Perhaps complete disassembly and contact renewal are in order. However, it would be better if the switch was replaced. The difficulty of getting a new switch is greater than that of getting the whole thing. The throw away world we live in is pretty intriguing to me. The Chinese word for yes is Shi de (). However, the igniter doesn't seem to have a manufacture country listed. What does it mean to ask why (Wei shen me? I don't mind matches at all, I prefer them. I guess I will have to say Oh well.
