I read a lot of Amazon reviews before purchasing this hitch ball. Because it rusted, this hitch ball received a lot of negative feedback. Any stainless steel trailer hitch ball will stick to a magnet if you touch it. The stainless steel used to make these balls is a cosmetic grade that makes the ball look nice but does not guarantee that it will not rust. The steel is made of a 400 series stainless steel with a small amount of chrome and no nickle in order for it to retain its strength and beauty. Adding nickle to the ball would help make it rust-proof, but it would also soften it, making it knick, scratch, and dent more easily. The ball I received is absolutely stunning, with a near-perfect finish. To keep the ball safe. When I'm not towing anything, I take it out of my truck's receiver. Even if a trailer coupler abrades the gleaming surface, if I keep it dry, the cosmetic grade stainless should not rust. I've used the ball to tow our pontoon boat and am pleased with how well it works. When I'm not towing something, I keep it dry on a shelf in my garage. That should keep it rust-free for a long time.
This thing is made of stainless steel, and it's strange how it's already rusting despite the fact that I haven't even connected it to a trailer. I bought it for one purpose: to keep the back of my truck from looking like a rust bucket, but it rusted in less than a week.
br>It is highly recommended that you purchase this item! br>It's now November 29th, and my S. is in the snow/salt season. S. , the ball appears to be the same as the others who posted on the first day of the week. Is there rust on the ball? What makes you think that?.
It's sturdy and well-made, and it appears to be built to last.
Bumper jewelry, indeed! In any parking lot, this is the gleamingest hitch ball. When you mount it on a stainless steel draw bar, you've got yourself a real show-stopper. I was tired of staining my trousers by rubbing up against a rusted hitch ball. I'm convinced that when drivers see my new stainless setup, they'll be less concerned about my stainless hitch ball and draw bar ripping through their radiator when I slam on the brakes. God bless the United States of America!.
After looking everywhere for one, I bought this for my pickup truck. Very nice-looking, sturdy, and simple to put together. I added a smidgeon of locomotion. It worked well to keep the threads tight as a theft deterrent.
Being at the bottom of the hitch, those aren't the most appealing sights.
e. e. the receiver's base is quite substantial. The hitch ball's base is a humongous size. My boat trailer's base interferes with the coupling on the trailer, which is problematic for my application. It is possible for it to hitch up, but it must be precise, i. e. The latch's tolerance is extremely tight. The hitch ball is of excellent quality in and of itself. I had to return to the ball I had started with. Just make sure your program can work with the hexadecimal base.
