Questions & Answers

Is it possible for you to change the bulb because his is getting wet?

It most likely has a crack you can't see, and no, the bulbs are led lights soldered to the mother board. Your best bet, given how inexpensive new ones are, is to get a new one.

Is this a plug-and-play solution for hitch lighting, or will you have to run your own wires?

It's plug-and-play, so if you already have a towing wiring harness, no additional wiring is required.

I'm from Arizona, and I'm wondering if it's legal or illegal to put this on a vehicle. ?

You'll have to look around your neighborhood or the area you're visiting. There has never been an issue with me.

Is this, as stated, a blue light or, as it appears, a red light?

It's a beautiful blue color. When you apply the brakes, it acts as a third (or fourth) brake light, turning red when you do so.

Blue Oval made entirely of plastic
5/5

I began looking for a replacement for my lighted Ford Oval hitch cover when it broke. This isn't exactly what I'm looking for, but it's the best I could come up with that wasn't twice the price and had the same issues. I still expect the automatic car wash, as well as the salt and slush from driving in the snow, to pierce this cover. The oval is, however, blue. The word Ford is not prominently displayed, but it is there. When the brakes are applied, the red brake light is very visible. Overall, it's a good substitute; however, what I really want is a polished aluminum bi-fold door. The word Ford is illuminated by a clear crystal inset in a level plate that is welded/bolted to a hitch tube.

It has a nice cover that makes it more visible
5/5

For the past two years, I've had the Bully "Ford" LED Hitch Cover/Brake Light, and it's been fantastic. My truck is an older model from the late 1960s, so the tail and brake lights aren't the brightest you've ever seen. When the tail lights were turned on, I thought this light would add a little light and look cool, as well as make my brake lights more visible when I hit the brakes. It had been fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome, which was simple to put together. It doesn't do much as a tail light other than add a nice blue "glow" with the word "Ford" on it. However, when used as a brake light, the red and blue combine to create a cool "blue dot pink" effect. The font is a nice touch: it's the classic Ford script font. One thing to keep in mind is that your turn signals will cause the entire light to blink, regardless of which one you use. It would have been nice if they could have split the circuit 50/50 so that only one side flashed depending on which signal you were watching. br>br>However, it performed admirably in both capacities. to the present day This light is a little fragile, as a previous reviewer pointed out; it sticks out more than your typical hitch light, and isn't something you want people standing on. I have to remind the kids not to use it as a stepping stone on a regular basis. To this point, I've been extremely cautious and have managed to keep it safe. However, I was in a hurry recently and gassed it up a little too much when backing into my garage slot, and this cover slammed into the concrete wall. Oops! I feared the worst when I heard a *crunch*, but everything appeared to be in good working order on the outside. There are no cracks, fractures, or other visible damage on the outside, but the LEDs appear to have been shattered on the inside. There were small shards of glass in the inside casing, and it would no longer light up for any purpose. After removing the light, I discovered that the mounting bracket had "caved in" the BACK of the light, smashing it up against a printed circuit board on the inside. Perhaps a little more reinforcement (steel? Adding a (to the back plate) would have prevented this. br>br>Although that was a major disappointment, given the cover's price, I still like it. Because the brake light provides me with additional safety, I immediately purchased another one from Amazon. I commute early in the mornings or find myself out late in the evenings in the old truck, and knowing that I'm more visible to those behind me gives me a little extra "peace of mind. " As a result, I strongly recommend this cover, but caution should be exercised when backing up or climbing into and out of a truck bed with it.

This is the fourth one I've purchased, and I'm planning on purchasing more
5/5

I bought four of these and plan to buy more in the future if necessary. br>br>I had one on my Ranger when I first got it, but it was stolen. I had to buy a new one because the first one had failed me. It's still on the Ranger and working as well as it did when I first got it. br>br>For my Explorer, I bought a third one. The housing cracked after I backed into my Lincoln (it was a light tap), so I had to buy a fourth one, which is still on the Explorer and working fine. br>br>The blue light comes on with the park lights, and the red light comes on with the brake lights and hazards. It does this on both my 2000 Ranger and my 2002 Explorer Sport, and I have it hooked up to the trailer harness rather than the lighting. It will work differently if your wiring is configured differently or if you wire it differently. br>br>The light comes with an adapter that allows it to be used with 1-inch diameter tubing. 1/2" or 2" receivers (the originals only came in 2", but you can now screw the size you need to the back of the light to get your size). br>br>My only criticism would be the light's fragility. It will most likely break in some way if you accidentally step on it or tap it on something while backing up (as I did). Because the light comes with a rubber spacer to go between the receiver and the light to keep it from rattling, the light sits out a little with the spacer (about 1") and the thickness of the housing (about 1-inch). If you're not careful, you might step on it or hit something with it.

Any Chevy will benefit from this addition
5/5

I bought this for my father as a Christmas present to replace another Chevy Bow-Tie. light-weight ties I bought him a hitch cover nearly a decade ago, but it was damaged by a garage door and had to be replaced. It's installed on his Avalanche and works flawlessly. It does light up when the brake lights are turned on. It is compatible with both 1. and 2. prong trailer wiring harnesses. Receiver sizes of 25 and 2 inches are available. A fantastic addition to any Chevy, especially if it's painted in a red or orange color. For my Impala, I'm thinking of getting one.

It was great until it started to break down
3/5

Didn't it happen? A few days ago, I had a run-in with the cops over this. (Actually, the officer was very nice about the whole thing and didn't even issue me a citation. ) )br>br>After having this on my car for at least two months (possibly two and a half) and driving around a city with a large police presence (meaning other cops probably saw this thing on my car), I was pulled over and told I couldn't have any red flashing things on my car. But it doesn't flash, I explained, it only comes on when the brake is applied. br>br>So I followed him around the back while my son applied the brake, and there was no flash. The color is a deep red. But then, with the brake applied, my son activated the left turn signal, which started to flash. br>br>I can't say whether the thing has always flashed like that since I got it, but as previously stated, this wasn't the first cop to be behind me late at night, and it was never an issue until recently. As a result, I'm giving it three stars because it might be broken. br>br>Whether it's broken or not, it's out of the car for good. I'm going to put a black cap on top of it.
