A 2012 Silverado 3500 was fitted with a new transmission. Simply pop off the left and right end covers, four screws (2 on each end), two clips on the front, and one push pin in the center to remove the cowl. We took 15mm off the wiper arms. Then, under the driver's fender, disconnect the washer tubing. The cowl and wipers can now be slid between the hood and the windshield. Remove the three 10mm bolts and turn the unit upside down after partially removing it. Squeezing the clip and removing the connector with pliers is now possible. Install in the reverse order. It took me about 20 minutes to complete this task. Wipers now function flawlessly, with no dragging or stopping.
My truck's wipers refused to come back to life - It sounded as if the motor or transmission had become stuck. I decided to buy this part and replace it myself rather than taking it to the shop and wasting money on their diagnostic abilities. I didn't care if the problem was with the motor, transmission, or linkage - I just wanted it fixed. I decided that replacing everything would be the best and simplest option. There are numerous YouTube videos available that demonstrate how to remove all of the trim and the old assembly properly. It took me about a minute to swap it out. The time limit is 5 hours. The part was exactly what I needed and arrived in excellent condition. To protect your hands from grease and abrasions while working, I recommend wearing automotive gloves. To remove the single plastic trim clip on my GMC, I needed 15mm, 10mm, and 7mm sockets, as well as a flathead screwdriver and a trim tool. Best of luck!.
The wiper transmission and motor are included in the good price. The box was well-padded and well-packaged. It was easy to replace, though it did take a little fidgeting to get it out of the well it was mounted in. I'll admit that my original seized up due to a lack of lubrication on all of the pivot points; when I got this, I double-checked and discovered that they, too, were lacking grease. Put some in between all of the pivot points and you're good to go. The transmission without the motor is priced at $180 at AutoZone! If you just want a new one, this is a no-brainer.
My 2013 Chevy Suburban's wipers became stuck. After doing some research online, I discovered that this is a very common problem with these GMT900 trucks, and that while I could lube the existing armature, it would be better to replace it. It was well worth the effort for a little more than $100, and I like the idea of using genuine Delco parts on the Chevy. br>br>It wasn't exactly a 10-minute job, but an hour after I started, I was putting my tools away. It was very easy to replace, and I greased all of the joints before putting it in.
The transmission was a perfect fit for the vehicle. The transmission is included with the motor, which I was unaware of at the time of purchase. The old motor worked, and I assumed that was the source of the problem. My assumptions were incorrect. The wiper transmission had seized up, and the ball bearings had failed. It wasn't until he went to install the new one that the mechanism realized what had happened. AAA is the designation for the new transmission. Thank you so much!.
So far, everything has gone well. Everything worked out exactly as it should. Ordered late on the 21st, received on the 23rd, and completed the swap in the snow on Christmas Eve, just in time to drive to see family. From beginning to end, it took 45 minutes. Fast shipping and a genuine AC Delco part for a third of the cost of what was available locally.
A Breeze.
It only takes ten minutes to get it in. Pro tip: You will never need to replace this piece again if you purchase a grease fitting and tap/die set and install a grease point. For more information, go to YouTube. This motor appears to die every two years or so. 3 years. Almost as stupid as my suburban's DRL lights, which require the bumper to be loosened in order to replace the bulb. grrrr.
