In the middle of my wiper stroke, there was a void. I replaced the blades, but the problem only improved slightly. Over the course of 16 years, the arms' springs had weakened. This arm is completely covered. The only issue is that, unlike other suspension parts I've purchased, the site does not specify which side the arm should be used on. They're not the same. The arm 42534 is for the passenger, while the arm 42533 is for the driver. You won't be able to find this information unless you go to Dorman 42534 or 42533 and use another site to find the correct side.
Finally, I googled the issue, and there it was, right there on the internet, my solution. I needed a new arm (or to tighten the one I had, but that seemed like too much work), so I ordered this part, had it installed by my husband, and now I don't have to scrunch down. It was a cinch to use!.
However. I bought these a little over two years ago, and they're still going strong. However, the paint on both wipers has faded and they are rusting through. My original wipers lasted 15 years before I had to replace them with these. I'm getting new wipers from the factory because I don't like the look of rusted wiper arms. If you're okay with that, these will serve you well.
instructions that can be used in a variety of ways and are fairly simple to follow solved the issue of the driver's wiper skipping when driving at highway speeds, even though it worked fine when the vehicle was stationary. The wind was blowing at a brisk 14 mph. The blade of a 15-year-old spring pops up ever so slightly, allowing it to skip and not adequately clean the window. everything is as it should be! Other than the finish issues previously mentioned, it appears to be brand new; we'll keep an eye on it and update as needed.
Do not use this part on the aforementioned models; it will provide poor performance and may cause damage to the factory male conical mounts. This is the second time I've had problems ordering a left wiper arm online, the first time being with Rock Auto. I have yet to come across an online retailer who is even aware that their S10 wiper arms are incompatible with S10 conical mounts mechanically. After that, I'm going to look for a parts truck.
It was relatively simple to set up. Because this replacement lacks the splines found on the OEM, it may arrive with the wiper shaft. When I was installing it, I used a lock washer. I'm hoping it stays full during the winter, when the windshield is covered in ice. So far, it has performed admirably. It cleans the windshield more effectively than the worn-out OEM arm.
These were purchased in December 2016 and were rusted by July 2018. Although the factory arms had remained rust-free for 13 years, they were becoming weak and lifting from the windshield. If I can't paint without too much trouble, I'll just buy factory.
The Dorfman wiper arm assembly left a lot to be desired. It appeared to be in good condition when I received it, but when I removed the wiper arm assembly from my 1999 Blazer, I discovered that it had grooves to keep the arm from slipping. The Dorfman arm did not have grooves where the wiper arm connects to the motor, so it would have slipped after installation. I returned the new Dorfman wiper arm and attempted to bend the old one. That worked, and the wiper blade is now properly clearing the rain.
