I took 30 minutes to install, from scratch, including getting tool, jack, and jack stands. There is no need for pliers or anything else, the only thing you need is a 12mm wrench/socket since I was able to remove the cotter pin without any tools. It isn't necessary to remove the bracket clip holding the cable in place as well. When you install this bushing on its own or very early in ownership of your WRX, you may barely notice any difference because of how inherently clunky the transmission is (and its lack of a shifter stop on the 1-speed transmission) The gate has 2 gates. The benefits you gain from installing a shifter stop first, and then the bushing, will be much more noticeable There is an option for heavy shifters.
This is by far the best mod I have done to my 2017 WRX 6 speed! As my OEM bushing is rubber, it makes the shifts feel loose and rubbery, whereas this part tightens up the shifts so that they feel precise and tight. It took all of 20 minutes to install on my garage floor and I was pleasantly surprised! I think this is the most impactful mod I've done to date. I have found it to be as good as or better than the STI short throw shifter and the shift stop, but taking the 3 together is a real game changer. This was an entirely new This is a great product, so order it right.
There is a knock off product for a quarter of the price of this item, but I was willing to spend a few extra dollars to be certain my car gets quality parts. don't know which is better, but I purchased this one because it felt better to me. It was pretty easy to follow the instructions. Everything you will need from the box is included. My car was jacked up, I got underneath it, replaced the part, sewed everything up, and I got back on the road within an hour or so. In the beginning, I had a hard time taking off the old one, but eventually I managed to do so. If I can handle it with appropriate tools, so can you. I'm not very handy, so I would like you to do it with appropriate tools. While I was taking the car for a test drive, I noticed that the shifts seemed a lot more solid. Rather than feeling rubbery when you push it around, you actually get the feeling that it is actually dedicated to completing the task. On my next order, I'm looking forward to receiving my stop shifter.
Many people say it's a night and day difference, but I am probably one of the few people who can say this There is no such thing as that. It will not be noticeable to you at first. In addition, it's often combined with other shifter mods, making it truly worth it. I can almost always feel my shifter feeling amazing through the shift thanks to this and the shift stop. Though I did not notice change straight away, I still recommend it even though I am not able to feel the difference back to back. Maybe if I had been able to compare the before and after back to back, I would be able to tell a difference more clearly.
Having jacks and jackstands was very helpful, as was knowing how to use some hand tools. Rather than placing the cable on the pin, I inserted the bushing first. Once the cable is installed, put the bushing on top of it. There were a few minor issues with the cable sitting straight at first, but once it was wiggled a little I got it on and secured As I rowed through my gears with my car off after putting it on, I noticed it was quite heavy. It took me a while to notice that anything had changed. The whole experience disappointed me quite a bit. Once I had cleaned up, I decided to take the car for a test drive. After taking the car for a spin, I could feel The night isn't over yet - Even though it feels like night and day when shifting, the shifter definitely feels more solid. If you row through gears quickly, it will inspire a bit more confidence in you. In my opinion, it's a decent upgrade for under $30. In addition, I will pair it with a Boomba short throw shifter in the near future.
Youtube videos say it takes 40 minutes, but I did it in 10 minutes, granted I have a lift and all the necessary tools, but it still took me 10 minutes. This is a very easy installation. You can take it to a mechanic if you do not have the right tools for it, they won't charge much for it because it's incredibly fast. When I did it right when I got the car I felt the difference right away, but I already had 16k miles on it, so you may not feel it right away with it new.
Even though I didn't notice a difference, I am still pleased with the purchase even tho the quality of this product is better than the OEM bushing. I expect it to last a lot longer than the OEM bushing, and that's why I have given it 4 stars. There are super detailed instructions from Perrin and SubiSpeed has a great video on YouTube for installation if you need more eyes on it.
It was very easy to install and took only 10 minutes The job will take about 15 minutes when you've already got your car jack up. I am very impressed with how much more smoother my shifting is with this brass bushing and I highly recommend combining it with the perrin shift stopper which is $34 to make sure that you get the most out of your First I installed the Perrin shift stopper but I was somehow still not happy with how it was shifting so I then installed this Perrin bushing and I'm impressed with how much better shifting has been since then.
