A perfect fit for my 96 NA Miata, exact shifter according to my records, the only difference is in the year. In a 1991, the engine is a 6 liter, whereas in a 1998, it is In a 96, there were 8 errors.
You can pop it in fairly easily.
This will not work, it is only compatible with the 5 speed

A while ago, the transmission in my Miata slipped into reverse. One of my replacement parts is represented by this picture. Another was the back of the car The issue was probably caused by the light switch up high. There is a crispness to the shifter again. In addition to the shifting being spongey before the transmission locked up, the shifter also felt slippery before it locked up. This was due to the plastic cover on the end of the gear As a result, the shifter is now crisp again.
I could use it on my B2200 with no problems. It would have been great if I had bought it a year or two I've been driving 275k miles on my old one, and I seem to have disintegrated somewhere in there. To get the most out of it, I recommend getting the doorman rebuild kit as well.
A new shifter was installed on my NA miata with this kit. The application works great, but getting on there is a bit of a challenge. Note
Tip It would be very easy to do if you would rub some trans fluid on the tip of the shifter and the whole assembly could simply be smacked into a tough surface, like padded concrete. Spending 20 minutes trying to maneuver this all the way onto the shifter is an unnecessary waste of time.
Installing was a fairly straightforward process It requires a couple of 10mm bolts and screws with Phillips heads. The shifter was quite a struggle to get on (had to push the shifter down with a lot of force to get it on), but it came on entirely without any issues I'm certain it won't be coming off anytime soon.
This was used when rebuilding my shifter on a 1997 NA Miata using a Dorman 917-based shifter Shifter Rebuild Kit 551, a great value package. It was a good value replacement for the bushing on my shifter that had totally disintegrated. I switched to this bushing in my Miata after I downloaded the shifter rebuild kit! It makes shifting in my Miata feel great!.
There's no way I could have imagined that this little plastic piece would have fixed my shifter so quickly If you are replacing the bushing from a previous position, be sure to remove all the old parts. The pieces of old metal sticking to my finger were all from my small finger sticking to the grease. I was able to install it in my 1992 B 2200 in about 10 minutes.
There was a lot of looseness and sloppiness in the shifter. had to search for a long time to identify the part that had to be replaced in order to fix the problem. I feel like my shifter is brand new, precise and perfect after installing it.
