Rather than putting your holes in oblong shaped ones, reamer them out first

This was the only way I could refurbish the door hinges on my 74 Charger. Although the brass bushings are larger than the holes, that's usually a good thing. Therefore, it causes you to dream the wholes out so they lie on a nice even surface. In this case, bushings would fall right into an oblong hole resulting in a risky situation. In some cases, the door weight can tear through the brass bushing, if the backing is not good enough.
