Questions & Answers
This is the bolted-on end of the front driveshaft.
Yes, the boot can be found, but the kit is not expensive; you must disassemble everything to fit the boot, which is why I bought the kit. br>By the way, JEEP only sells the axle in its entirety.

It really works. With a couple of minor caveats, it works fine. To begin, keep the retaining clips from the original, as there are two types and this only includes one. Second, throw out the grease that came with it and spend $10 on a good synthetic (I used Mobil 1). Make sure to grease both the CV joint and the cup/cover piece that seals off the very front of the driveshaft at the differential with grease. Fill it up with everything you need. I only used half of the cartridge. Over time, this will prevent the grease from leaking out of the CV joint. I didn't have any issues with vibration, but if you do, a simple hose clamp (trimmed so there's no excess band hanging off) will likely balance it out. The screw is in the heavy part, so just drive it and pay attention to the vibrations. Loosen the clamp and rotate it to a new position before re-driving it. Continue doing this until you find the sweet spot, and then play around with adding or subtracting weight. Overall, this kit is a great fix, especially when you consider that a "new" shaft costs $600 and has the same quality CV joint as this kit. I'm very pleased.
So, I just swapped out my Drivehsaft CV Joint for a Dorman CV Joint Kit. The kit fits, but the bolts are too short, and the washers that secure the assembly to the yoke are also too short. In addition, the smaller boot clamp shown in the picture is not included. To make this work, I had to rely on some old components. If you decide to purchase this, make sure you keep your old parts in order to finish the installation. br>br>I had the same experience as the reviewer who claimed that the kit caused severe vibrations. However, I believe the reviewer's driveshaft, like mine, became unbalanced. My driveshaft was eventually rebalanced after I took it to a driveline repair shop. It's now working perfectly; keep in mind that, as with any dynamic component, if you change something on it, you'll probably need to rebalance it. br>br>In the end, the kit worked for me, but only after a lot of frustration. If you're a beginner, I recommend having your SUV repaired. If you're more familiar with drivetrains, the do-it-yourself project will be easier for you. You can save money by doing it yourself.
A fantastic item.
It's a nice product; you'll have to put it together, but it's not difficult.
I purchased this in the hopes of regaining access to my four-wheel drive for the winter. The parts arrived quickly and were easy to assemble; however, when I put it in my Jeep, it vibrated horribly. Doing a yoke transplant and running the joints is a waste of time and money.
It was terrible easy to install but easy to fall apart every time I went up a bridge or over a speed bump, causing terrible damage.
THE CHRYSLER SERVICE MANUAL IS REQUIRED FOR CORRECT INSTALLATION. THE INSTRUCTIONS COULD BE MORE COMPLETE. THE BOOT WILL BREAK IN MINUTES IF THIS IS NOT DONE.
