During the first drive off when the car was cold, the inner CV joints had failed and weren't slinging oil. The worst vibrations and grinding noises only occurred when they failed and the oil wasn't leaking. It's more like a loud fast knocking clicking noise that becomes worse as you go faster. Upon exiting the cabin, it would disappear for 8 seconds, never to return until the vehicle was cooled However, it eventually got so bad that I would hear grinding noises all the time that mechanics at the pep boy's were 99% sure that it was my transmission/transfer case gears and I'd need a brand new transmission! In the end, I bought these, praying they were the cause, and the problem was solved. 75 mph), another tough job that only requires DIY home mechanic, and this was difficult for me - not disassembling the hub, that was simple, but disengaging the drivers side axle took 4 hours with 5 crow bars, 3 hammers, and a new 5lb dead blow hammer from Harbor Freight. I had to have a replacement sent as the first one came torn. These are fit great for a 98 Chevy Prizm. This shoe has been holding up so far despite me riding hard and fast 100 miles a day. This is the brand that my mechanic recommends.

The first few days were fine but then it started to make noises. I am going to check it out when I get the chance. It sounds like metal on metal rubbing almost like my window is down and the air is blowing hard.

Take all the clamps apart, clean out any grease and re-grip with Red Line 80401 CV-L

The clamps seemed to be very cheap, but I would recommend taking them apart, removing any grease and re-greasing them. They are made with synthetic grease so they will last a longer time. It would also be a good idea to use higher quality band clamps. I did so, overall I am happy with it.
